The PRX looks nice! I'm wearing my 2003 Seiko kinetic right now, one of my very first watches. Super acurate and afordable. I also own luxury pieces but sometimes it's nice to wear a dependable watch and just be carefree about it. It's good to have a mix of both affordable and luxury pieces, as there's a different kind of satisfaction from wearing them.

I love your perspective about the watch... No BS and pure joy and practical review. I've been eyeing this watch to be my 1st automatic swiss made watch and to celebrate my job promotion. The only thing that holds me back is what the other reviewers say about its movement that it's plastic.
@JANTHONYCHANNEL2 ай бұрын
I appreciate that! New Mercedes and BMWs have more plastic in them than the PRX does. I suspect the PRX will be as reliable and serviceable as any other mainstream watch.

I own this watch. What I like about it is that the dial is very easy to read. There's plenty of contrast between the hands, markers and waffle dial. I'm also a fan of the 1970s style integrated bracelet. It's a little large for my 6 1/4 inch wrists. I understand they have a 38 mm version. I might be interested in trading my 40 for a 38.

As far as manual winds, I obtained one from an online retailer at a steal that is supper satisfying: Orient Bambino 4 with a champagne dial and art deco sub dial. So mid century chic. I just need to grab a tan suede leather strap. You’re so right about cost not equaling value or worth. My Tissot Seastar from ~17 yrs ago has more prescience than my old Omega, which looked very dated from that same era.

@JANTHONYCHANNEL2 ай бұрын
To be honest... I'm not a fan of it. Design aside the build quality seems to be on par or worse than a $200 Tissot. It's not a watch I would plan on keeping for decades, it has a cheap bracelet on it and the resale is terrible. If you want one badly I'd buy used for well under $1000.

I think that's also a fine watch. For some reason the PRX style appeals to me more but to your point, they are quite similar. The big difference for me is the movement, the PRX has nearly double the power reserve and I would say is a slightly better movement overall. That said I've seen the Citizen go for cheaper than the PRX so you can save some money.

Nothing wrong with it. The price is a little high (based upon current economic conditions where the common man is getting his arse crushed). I know a few gents who have purchased these and they do tend to like them a great deal. I am considering one. Still unsure since my quartz Omega Pre-Bond has wrist-time about 5 days out of 7. Quartz = 2 to 3 year power reserve. ;-)
@JANTHONYCHANNEL2 ай бұрын
Indeed, can't compete with the power reserve or accuracy of a quartz watch. That said, you also can't compete with the open case back of a mechanical watch where you can be hypnotized by the movement of the balance wheel : )

I love the prx, however looks aside it wears even better on the official rubber strap. It is however currently the most faked watch currently available on the bay of e. A lot of sellers give b s stories about being imported watches, however most don’t have the correct movement (a regulator can be seen in the movement) wrong boxes and non legit warranty cards. I actually wonder how many people thought they were getting a deal but ended up with a fake. I’m looking forward to the carbon one.

I don't get this pointless commentary on why X is just as good as Y even though Y is 10 times more valuable. As someone who started off as a high school student with a G-Shock and later a Seiko which I sure loved, saying things like a Tissot can be more valuable than a Rolex because it's all subjective is foolish. Look, I am around 30 now, got a mortgage, a fianceè and two kids. However I am financially literate, I got a vast investment portfolio, and I don't act on emotion or create some illusion that a liability is worth buying, unless it's a gift. I like the Tissot PRX Powermatic. But most entry level watch brands, Tissot included, are liabilities, and have a low resale rate despite not depreciating a lot. I recently was able to comfortably afford a Daydate without having to go into debt, of course it was a no-brainer. Holds value and even goes up with time and good care. I don't subscribe to justifications like "it works and looks as good as a Rolex so it's just as valuable" is maybe what you think but it's merely a fantasy, and behaviour determined by fantastical views in the real world as an adult is like living in a bubble that will eventually pop. These are things that most realize while growing up.

I absolutely love this watch but here in mexico believe or not, will cause too much attention in most places that you wouldn't want it to... you would just be a target to get robbed, in contrast in the US whenever i travel there it doesn't matter what you have on your wrist you're, at least me, sort of a ghost to other people, not a single person will start a conversation with you over a PRX and you wouldn't get robbed either.
