The greatest thing about You Tube is that the site introduces bygone TV shows like this to new generations. I wasn't alive when this TV show was on, being born in 1987, but thanks to this amazing website, I get to enjoy funny clips like these!

so sorry you weren't there to see one of the greatest TV programmes in History.....the other being Swap Shop, these 2 were supposed to be for kids but a great many adults watched them too. In those days there wasn't such a thing as a Video Recorder so you had to watch some of Tiswas and then dash over to Swap Shop and you were like that all morning!!!!
@arthurvasey3 жыл бұрын
Watch the first hour of Swap Shop, then switch over to Tiswas - couldn’t do that in my part of the world - we only had three options (other than turning it off - how do you watch telly at all when it’s turned off - or watch a programme on one channel when the telly is on the other channel? Tell my idiotic parents that!) - Swap Shop on BBC 1, Open University on BBC 2 or a crappy old film of no interest whatsoever to kids on Tyne-Tees - usually a war film - who wants to watch a war film being shown in place of the anarchy that was Tiswas? Kids in the area between Northumberland and North Yorkshire, apparently - Tyne Tees felt that movies about the war or old movies not necessarily about the war would have greater appeal to kids up our way than the anarchy that was Tiswas on ITV!

There was lots of Tiswas influenced slapstick when Jim took over from Brucie as host of the Generation Game, with custard pies and gunge sketches when introducing the contestants and even with the conveyor belt finale. Ruined it and made it too silly.

I knew children who actually had Phantom Flan Flinger parties in their backyards back in the day. I was so jealous; they is no way that would've happened in our household because my mother hated this show - she preferred Swap Shop with Noel Bloody Edmonds...

@@Bimmeroo090-cl5czThat just seems to be the way everyone is in this miserable Politically Correct world we all sadly live in. Nothing but bitterness and hatred about the past. What annoys me with people talking about the past is that everyone has nothing but negativity towards them. It’s very rare you hear positive things about the past. I know bad things happened back then like wars and unemployment and discrimination, etc. But wait, it’s still happening today and will do so into the future. Some stuff may not be happening on our doorsteps, but it’s still happening in some way or another. So when people mention these negative things of the past, just remember it’s happening somewhere else in the world today.
