@@pyracurse When Pauline's family arrived in the UK from Burma, they lived in a rented flat in East London, far from what you would describe as a 'comfortable background'. She left school at 16 and started work as an office clerical assistant. During this time, she paid for evening dance classes out of her own earnings. She, therefore, had no classical dance training in the accepted understanding of the term.

It's quite interesting to see them sitting still, speaking normally, with the camera getting a good look at their faces. From this interview, at least in 1980, it seems quite clear to me that Gill was the prettiest one. But the fascinating thing is that when they are on stage dancing that can change, and other girls can look the most beautiful at different times. I have seen dances where I thought Lulu was clearly the prettiest, and others were I thought it must be Rosie, except when she makes faces.

God how I *hated* Legs & Co. Absolutely hated it when they came on. Can't get the group/singer? Legs & Co! No music video available? Legs & Co! The cop-out solution to fill three or four minutes. I'm sure the girls were lovely, but the dance routines always seemed super-naff, the costumes were awful...just BAD all round. If I were straight, maybe I'd have enjoyed "ogling the girls", and I guess if it had been a bunch of hot guys I might've enjoyed it at least a little bit. It's nice to hear how well-spoken everyone was back then. England certainly went downhill since those days. Thanks for uploading - even though I never enjoyed them at the time, I love seeing this stuff now.

It’s not like everyone was well spoken in those days. There were still working class and uneducated people and slang and swearing, they just didn’t usually let them on the bbc as it was still old public school boys running things. These girls were all from middle class backgrounds. Don’t know if you remember but after they got rid of legs and co, top of the pops introduced a new dance group called zoo that had a few guys in. The costumes and routines were just as awful though.
