Wow flys great! You're a good pilot too, that take off and landing was absolutely perfect.

I really appreciate that. Thank you. Of all of the mods, the winglets help the most.

Great job bro, really clean. Ive done 3 titan conversions and love every one. taped one and fiberglassed another. Ailerons and elevator worked best for me. no rudder. Flies beautifully. Again great job.

9gm servos and the winglets are not necessary. Just helps the air flow over the ailerons.
@BrianPhillipsRC7 жыл бұрын
Nice job! I tried the same thing with VERY different results. I got too heavy really quick, and removed too much wing surface for ailerons. You did the right thing with EDF too, since there's so little drag when off the throttle. Looked like you used 9gram servos, right?

yours with a 50mm edf looks to move just as fast as my 4' glider with a 64mm edf.

I notched a groove in the fuselage to inset the fan just a little and glued in place with a hot glue gun. No wing reinforcement is necessary and all cuttingan hollowing out was done with a soldering iron.

funny, i crashed a ducted fan f-16 and when i got home, i looked at my airhogs glider and wondered if i can do this. I guess i can. Thank you

Why did you add the winglets? Was it unstable? Are the servos standard or mini?
@mountainmeister799611 жыл бұрын
Thats the cleanest one yet. Very nice, I am in the process myself. How do you have the engine mounted? Super Glue? Also what did you use to reinforce the wings, or did you? Thanks

I'm just getting into RC flyers...very basic stuff. I just got the sky rover crusader s...3 ch. Heli. already bored with it, doesn't fly well outdoors at all in the slightest breeze. I'm looking to try a very inexpensive, RC plane, to see if I want to pursue the hobby long term. Any suggestions on a plane? Something that won't break my heart or the bank when I inevitably, break it.

Absolutely the best trainer is the park zone champ. you can pick the up new ready to fly for 89 dollars. check out horizon hobby. or find a used one on ebay. Because you are new I would also recommend a simulator. They work well.

Will it work without ailerons? I just got one and wanted to do elevator and tail. Are the wing flaps definitely needed? I have a Titan and a flying eagle that i am going to convert just trying to keep them as simple as possible for the kids.....
@ZicajosProductions8 жыл бұрын
You should be able to use just elevators and use Yaw (rudder) for turning, much like the HobbyZone Champ is designed... however, with a good transmitter, I would recommend mixing Elevator + Ailerons (called "Elevons", seen on any RC delta wing, really). Then, use rudder as well. If you want to do aerobatics, you will really needs some sort of roll (aileron) control. Flaps are not needed. But since you say it is for the kids, you should be able to do just Yaw + Elevator. But honestly, I have no idea how will this aircraft will respond to just that.

I added a U shaped rod to connect the elevators.

Gwen Dacones visit flite test . com, or watch all of their build vids on youtube. they work with thin foam board, but many of the methods apply to converting a foam glider to RC. They also have vids explaining motors, esc's, radio gear, servos ect.
