2005 thru 2015 V8 Nissan Titan Armada Infinity Q 5.6 Apparently exhaust manifolds commonly crack. According to the customer this is the 2nd set in less than a 120000 miles

Ug, I hate the lack of access in most modern cars. This is why I no longer try and service my own car. Old age makes it impossible to bend my arm in three spots to work on these cars.😊 I remember in the 1970's, fixing an oil leak in a VW Beetle. The owner's dad spent hours trying to fix it, but could not get access to the leak, so called me for advice and help. One hour later, we had the engine out, and five minutes (and one O ring) and the leak was fixed. Took just over an hour to put the engine back. The look on the owners face when she came to see how we were going, and seeing her car engine on the workbench was priceless.

One of the common issues with the Titans. Pretty sure mine have leaks too. In the Titan forums they don't recommend replacing with the OEM style parts as it may just happen again due to the design. Long tube headers, new B-Pipes and a tune can resolve it for good. Guys in emissions states (besides California) can still pass the sniffer test if you get the B-Pipes with the cats. I'll eventually get it done for my truck as well. I have all the parts just need to get it all installed and tuned. I have a 2010 w/136K miles.

Hi, thanks so much! What are B pipes? I have the JBA long tube headers that I'm about to have installed to replaced cracked OEM headers not even a year old. How can I pass a PA emissions inspection with the long tube JBA's?

@@ikenosis8160 These are B-Pipes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJjQnYGOa9-Zg6c You can get them with/without cats. You will need cats in your B-Pipes for emissions purposes. The Berks B-Pipes in the video are top of the line and cost more. Many others out there I just used that one for show.

@@joeyknight8272 Manual clearing and sand is all that is needed. Poor conditions outside? Drive carefully...... I grew up in Canada so I think my opinion has to count for something. Often times you'd have roads that are pure ice nearing a stop sign. People knew that and drove accordingly. They didn't salt, they just threw sand down which worked wonders and didn't destroy the vehicles.

Not familiar with these trucks as we didn't get them in New Zealand but I wonder why the flange plates have a split in them? For the exhaust to crack in the same place as the split flange, it must be expansion and contraction due to heat cycling at that point that ends up cracking the pipe.

Yep, that is exactly correct. As a former service manager for other auto dealers, It was common knowledge that these such failure points are engineered into many diverse parts as a way to generate massive revenue through jacked up repair costs. This is one such engineered failure point.

Will the new ones also crack at the same stress points caused by the leveraged weight of the converters flexing and then fatiguing? Can you weld up the cracks in the old ones and reinforce to distribute the stress?

Same problem with Toyota Tundra and some F-150s. The cost of exhaust manifolds with cats plus labor must exceed the book value of this 14 year old truck. Couldn’t you just braze the cracks on the manifolds?

Not really. There are multiple videos/guides online that do it with the right tools. Book labor is only 10hrs for both. I know a Nissan master tech who does it in 3hrs. He's done hundreds of them and can practically do it blind folded. As long its not it an ultra rusted northern salt truck, it is not that big of a deal. A first timer can do it within 5-10hr as there are so many guides out there to keep u out of any pitfalls

If that was my car, i'd weld the manifolds with oxy acetylene torch. Torch is a way to go for exthaus system welding, as it doesn't leave sharp lines of heatstress in the metal.

Those manifolds with catalytic converters must have been really expensive, but the labor to R&R them isn't cheap either. I'm guessing it wasn't worth the risk of having to do the job twice, is why you didn't try just welding the old ones first.

Gee, a Nissan with broken exhaust manifolds. There’s something that NEVER happens (not). Wait until a few of the exhaust studs break. Then the real party starts. I hope there’s a lot of labor hours for this gem.

Book time is 5hrs per manifold so no not a lot of labor hours. Can be done in 1.5 per side if you're a real pro. Can be done in 3-5 if you're not. Exceptions being the minority of trucks that are northern salty. And no exhaust studs break
