There are few interviews I've watched on any topic when the panelists asking the questions could reverently probe deep issues, explore the guest's mindset, rationale, and feelings with such sensitivity and clarity of purpose in their intro and questions. An uncle was showing the dangers of the stream that I needed to be wary of and he said something that stuck in my mind ever since. He said; "You can't fight the water, it never gets tired." People start an experience, an "Adventure" in nature, on land or water, and they can ignore the relentlessness of nature, be it waves, tides, wind, heat or cold. This must be particularly hard on this man, since he is being retraumatized. Very difficult for him. All the same, these four men (I’lll leave the 19-year-old out of it) have done a foolhardy thing that now puts their rescuers in harm’s way. And for what? I feel for the mother of that boy. What are they “exploring?” Something that has already been explored. What are they achieving? Nothing. Just their own deaths and putting a huge dent in the US and Canadian search and rescue budgets. This is nothing but reckless vanity. Not some glorious exploration of the human spirit.

You should look up the story of the little girl a photographer watched die for 5 days because her feet were stuck. There's plenty of sad stories that should affect you deeply. This isnt one of them I'd think. These people went to a dangerous place and they understood that. No hard feelings.

@christinacreates2393 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Even if this is the first accident down there it isn’t appropriate due to the ship being a graveyard and final resting place of thousands. We don’t go playing around in graveyards above water so we need to respect this highly dangerous underwater tomb by leaving it alone
@Motorsportsgeek Жыл бұрын
@@christinacreates2393 so because thousands died trying to climb the Everest we should restrict it? Because some died in space exploration, we should restrict it? Don't visit the colosseum in Rome because thousands died in it. That's your logic here.

For Dr. Guillen, even though it's been 23-years since his life almost ended; on the ocean floor of the North Atlantic, while staring directly at the shipwreck of the Titanic ~ He now, sadly, is reliving it all again, with the missing Titan Submersible.

Amazing interview. Thank you Dr. Guillen for your heartfelt testimony. I probably live two hours away from you and I'm grateful that people like you still exist in this world. (I'm acting as if he will read it.) I'm not familiar with GBNews but I enjoyed the interaction here. I'll likely explore a bit to see if it is the sort of news I'm interested in seeing more regularly. As a United States Navy sailor for 22 years, I can easily relate to Dr. Guillen's remarks about the 360° view of nothingness, the ocean being a restless monster, and agree that the Titanic is sacred ground and should be left alone outside of serious scientific studies.

Not me. I have always had a healthy fear of oceans and the sea. Apparently my mother's initial attempts to teach me to swim in any public swimming pool as a very young child resulted in me screaming the place down when she tried to put me in the water. Very out of character for a quiet and well-behaved child. I did slowly and cautiously learn to swim from her. I am a competent but very limited swimmer. I have always enjoyed swimming pools as an adult but due to a fear of shark attacks I have never, ever stepped foot in the water of any beach. That does makes me stand out as an Australian. 😁

Thank you for saying this, Dr. Guillen. I've been hoping the dives would stop and the ship and her dead left in peace at last. I've researched the ship and her people and the tragedy is still palpable after all these years. I hope all dives stop. Thirty-eight years is enough. The ship has told us all that she can. I am sometimes haunted by a photo of a pair of shoes and from their position on the seafloor, it's pretty obvious that someone was wearing them when he landed on the bottom. This is a graveyard--leave it in peace.
