Just so you know, ADS’ing with the SMR does increase its accuracy, however, I’d only recommend doing it to get campers because you can’t see sh*t while shooting it ADS’ed due to the smoke, and the difference in accuracy is not that significant.

u can shoot enemy titans with the SMR and it does ok dmg bc its a grenadier type

It shoots projectiles so you have to slightly lead your shots with the Sidewinder (SMR) if they are moving - even if they're close to you and it takes 2 maybe 3 missles to kill a pilot

Need to use vortex amplifier. As an ion main, it lets you play aggressive. It wrecks monarchs and legions which helps you build your core quicker. Dont need overcore. It's an extra 35% damage with vortex amplifier. For my other I use extra dash as it helps me keep distance from scorch and Ronan. Like i said i play pretty aggressive with ion. I normally average around 8 titan kills per game.

If you focus on getting pilot kills with the splitter rifle, use refractor lense. Increases your ads shots from 3 horizontal shots, to 5. Wider range, which makes it easier to hit a pilot. Your welcome iniquity. You can also thank Dino for that too. 👍

honestly the SMR is my favorite gun in TF2. so much fun. EDIT: @Iniquity Games. I thought the SMR was a 3 shot kill. 2 if you have both headshots if I recall. and 2 shots when amped. also shreds titans. It seems I have been corrected.

Use the SMR just like you would use the L-Star. Pretty similar projectile speed in my experience

But the L-STAR's projectile type is "bolt", not "projectile". A bolt would become bigger when it travels further, a projectile would keep its size. So L-STAR is a little bit easier to hit a middle range target than SMR.

Prefer zero point tripwire on Ion. Seems to have more utility in more situations and good map knowledge leads to a whole lot of pilot kills. Does decent damage to aggressive titans coming atcha too.
