It’s unfortunate that both the Red Spectacles and Stray Dog got taken off KZbin. Thankfully I found them through other channels. I was shocked when I couldn’t find the Red Spectacles on Nyaa. I was under the assumption that it would be decently popular because of the Jin Roh connection. Managed to find it on the internet archive of all things, but in a horrible quality. Still enjoyed the wild ride a ton, but it’s a shame that such a beautifully shot movie isn’t available in the highest quality that it deserves

i have the old 2003 dvds for straydog and the red spectacles and i also have the 2002 spec edition jin roh, but even then the quality is ass😭 wish i was alive back then to even see them in the theatres

The Kerberos saga is in essence a HOI4 German victory, an alternate timeline where Nazi Germany won in Stalingrad with the development of mechanized divisions. It eventually leads to a total Axis victory in Europe. Japan still falls in 1945. But it's the Germans who occupy and morph the country into a national socialist dictatorship rather than the Americans in our timeline who morphed it into a its current state. Jin Roh takes place further down that alternate timeline. The film takes place in the 1960s. Germany won WWII, occupied Japan and has only recently moved out, leaving it in economic and political turmoil. Most of the weapons and vehicles seen are German. The US remained neutral and did not join the Allies in either World War and Japan joined the Allies against the Axis. In this universe FDR also does not provoke the Japanese into attacking Pearl Harbor. Additionally like with Italys political switch after its invasion by the allies, Japan also switched sides when its political leaders thought it had more to gain leading to their eventual conflict with Germany.

watched jin-roh at least 20 times and still enjoying it, especially on the backgound of during the 1960s japan, where the nation struck by both capitalist control and communist corrsion. the stuggles ppl required to endure during those peroid can clearly seen on the ainme.

Just a quick detail about Jin-Roh that gets missed: He trains with guns through out so he knows the rules of firearm safety. Lets just say, he constantly points his gun in unsafe directions because he is always pointing it at "the threat", foreshadowing his intentions.

Ive watched the first trilogy and i would have to say stray dog is my favorite. I just love inui as a character and even if there wasnt as much dialogue as the other movies i still think it had a great interesting story and i really liked the cinematography in it. I also liked the dynamic between inui and koichi in the movie.
