Yup. Including the amazing soundtrack by James Horner. You can feel the importance of it when watching these behind-the-scenes moments and the absence of his score. Noticing the huge influence it has in telling the story of the real-life ship. Bringing both forward the tragedy and hope of a new beginning.

Everything looked realistic except for the ocean. It was too still , too flat and no natural motion that you would see occurring on the real ocean . But then again the filming of the ship wasn't in an ocean but a big swimming pool .

I was just thinking this. I’ve been background and bit parts and noticed immediately these extras were extra. Honestly they shouldn’t be. On a set everyone should be trying very hard but it just isn’t always the case. These background actors seemed invested along with everyone else. It often has to do with the vibe cultivated on set. Actually talking with the director and getting to act alongside main talent and surely meet them etc. plus, in a movie like this these actors have to be involved a pretty long time at a shot. They are probably well taken care of and were able to look at it as a dream job while working. Not to mention it was clearly a masterpiece in the making. Everything came together so magically perfect on this. Directors get a lot of credit but my time on sets have shown me just how incessantly directors have to pull off miracles. It’s about one every four seconds.

@@SKB2643 i was James cameron personal translator, the day of filming when the boat leaves, I helped her about 100 extras, friends and family of mine, I’m from Tijuana, so there were 1,000 extras 1st class near the cars then 2nd class in the middle and 3rd class at the end…it was three day of filming when it supposed to be 2 days…one more day because of the fog…one of those days the extras food was rotten, so Sebastian one of the Mexican assistants of Cameron in a microphone 🎤 said to every body 1,000 extras, that at the end of the day everyone would relieve 10 dlls more because of the food and everyone could eat at any catering stand ( about 10 catering stands ) and I remember that an extra behind me said, 10 dlls? This are cheap mother efers 😂😂😂. So I turned a round and golds him, you realize that they just gave away 10,000 dlls, plus the rotten food? It’s a 20,000 loss…it’s was a great experience, got to meet Schwarzenegger ( witnessed a fight between Schwarzenegger and Cameron, verbal ) Linda Hamilton and all the cast…Billy Zane and Kathy bates were great persons, DiCaprio and winslet and Francis didn’t like to talk to any body…I loved their for 7 months and I could make a book of everything I saw 😂😂😂…easily 17 hours of filming daily…and the food was súpero great. Lobsters, steaks, salmons…nothing cheap…great experience…at the end of this video a lady says that Cameron made the topples drawing of Kate winslet, I was ther when the scenes was being filmed, she had a green tipe bra, so her brests were never exposed…so Cameron must have imagened her brests, because those were not winslet’s brests 😂😂😂

There is a point in adding the love story. Without the love story, most of the audience wouldn't be able to truly empathize with the emotional distress and sadness the people are going through as they lost their loved ones that night. Without the love story, the whole movie would've become a documentary that wouldn't be nearly as impactful.

Just rewatched the movie for the first time since I was a teen on Netflix today. The scenery in the movie is amazing. Feels so real. Especially the early scenes of the titanic sailing, the beautiful sky, the interior of the shop, the lighting, when Jack and his friends are talking on the deck. Just feels so amazing to watch and so real

I just watched Titanic yesterday (of course I’ve seen it at least ten times before) but it had been a good five or so years since watching it last… and I have to say, my heart was pumping, my jaw still clenched, and a big part of me kept wishing and hoping for Jack to still survive and hop on the darn door! The visuals, and the experience that you go through watching this movie… 3 hours flies by like it’s nothing! An absolute masterpiece and well and truly the best film ever made. James Cameron had such a vision and it came out perfectly. He’s a genius of the arts!

_"and I have to say, my heart was pumping, my jaw still clenched, and a big part of me kept wishing and hoping for Jack to still survive and hop on the darn door!"_ Count me in haha. Back in the early 00s I had that too, when watching the movie for the first time. Then, there was Mythbusters ... who tried to do what you, I and many would have "theatrically" liked, which was Jack & Rose both making it ashore. There was a sense of comfort in it, because, knowing maybe in an alternate universe, Jack may still be alive. And just the fact that the Mythbusters proved it wasn't impossible for Jack to have made it. Of course James Cameron was there to correct them that Jack dies and died, because, it's HIS movie. Meaning, in the end both turn of events have given me comfort. That includes, understanding later the decision behind letting Jack die, because, it wouldn't have felt justified in the background of the enormous loss of the 1.500 innocent souls who died and the ship itself. It was the best way to convey the message of the tragedy, but also make people think about the preciousness of life and illuminate the path of what perserverance will lead you to, concerning Rose did *not* give up and ended up living a happy, fulfilling and meaningful life. You know, that includes for all the women ... and men, who feel like they are trapped and have no way out, other than suicide, is what Rose was initally thinking of doing before Jack stopped it.

Of all BTS footage I’ve seen of different directors at work, something about James Cameron is so inspiring. He seems so clear and unwavering from his vision but so kind and patient in speaking with his actors/actresses, and does so in a way that they know what exactly what they need to do after being told only once (such as the footage when speaking to Victor Garber about the scene where he rolls out the blueprints).

At the time this movie was being filmed, I was dating a grip that worked in the industry. I remember him telling me that James Cameron was directing this totally epic movie and they were filming down the coast. He said that all kinds of people in production were going down to check it out and everyone wanted to work on it, because it was going to be one of the greatest movies ever made. He didn't tell me what it was about, but years later when I finally saw this movie, a light bulb went off in my head and I was like, "Ohhh..." I always thought Leo and Kate didn't actually do the dancing in the dance scene, but I guess I was wrong - so cute.

This is probably the best movie I have ever seen, I can't think of any better movies I've watched. Jack and Rose - even though they weren't real life characters - just made it so much more heartbreaking to watch. It was a tragedy playing out within a tragedy. It's a powerful reminder of such a massive loss of life. And how truly terrifying and saddening those couple of hours would have been for all those poor souls onboard. Without the brave Carpathia doing everything they did to try and assist the Titanic, the survivors could have eventually died from the cold, so what Captain Rostron and his crew did, will never be forgotten either.

You should see the 1998 Oscars (still available on YT) showing Cameron holding a minute of silence in the room, after winning Best Movie at the awards.

unbelievable how Cameron managed to pull this off. the scale of it is unfathomable. true talent. imagine how much money they would have made on top had they preserved this ship set as a museum for a couple of decades at least.

I have no idea how the director was able to orchestrate all of this. It’s quite amazing. The sinking scene looked incredibly dangerous for the actors … per a CBS article: “Several actors were injured while shooting the famous sinking scene in "Titanic" (1997) after they fell and struck parts of the ship. The injuries suffered ranged from broken bones to ruptured organs.” Yikes. And Kate Winslet almost drowned and she got pneumonia … crazy.

In 2023, the ship would've been CGI. It's amazing to see people filming on an actual movie set.

I think the romance is a very important part of the film because it honors many of the women who survived the Titanic but lost husbands and sons on the ship. They were seen as lucky because they survived, but they still lost people they loved very much.

It’s weird to see how this film was made because everytime I watch Titanic I feel like someone had captured the horrific incident in real lol The efforts, time, dedication the crew have put into this masterpiece is incredible, they deserve the appreciation.
