I made this a long time ago but only decided to upload it now.
I've always been a huge fan of Titanic (1997 James Cameron) the movie, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. It was the biggest movie of it's time and the highest grossing box office film of all time at the time! I spent years on Excite Virtual Places Chat gathering with other Titanic fans playing the roles of Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater. I joined a lot of the Titanic Web Rings with Angelfire, Geocities, and it was a beautiful community and time in history as the internet was fairly new and just in its infancy. Social media hadn't really taken off yet, KZbin wasn't even born, smartphones didn't exist let alone cellphones.
A few years back I saw this movie from 2016 called, "Passengers". It starred Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. I couldn't help as I was watching the movie that it reminded me and was oddly similar to Titanic. The similarities were uncanny and by the end of the movie I had already made mental notes of several clear renditions, imitations, copies, or inspired scenes taken straight from Titanic movie.
The odd thing about this was when I went to check online if anyone had reported about the odd similarities between Titanic and Passengers, I couldn't find hardly any articles or videos about it except maybe 1 or 2. It was as if though nobody actually saw the similarities. Passengers (2016) is LITERALLY the modern day version of Titanic. It is either an inspired sequel dedicated to the 1997 Titanic film, or it was completely plagiarized and copied and they producers/director of Passengers got away with it! I have never once found an article or video where the Passengers movie screenplay writer confessed it was inspired by Titanic OR meant to be Titanic 2, the modern day version. If anyone can found an article or video of this, please send it to me or write it in the comments.
Anyways, Passengers was a pretty good movie. I wasn't expecting much but after watching it, I was pleasantly surprised, especially the message/meaning at the end. It made me think a lot about Titanic 1997 which is why I had to make this comparison video analysis / essay.
