My great aunt, Elizabeth Nye, was a Titanic survivor who later lived in Asbury Park, NJ, where she witnessed the ocean liner, SS Morro Castle become beached after catching fire on September 8, 1934. 137 passengers and crew were killed, many from drowning after abandoning the ship. Back in 1911 when the Titanic was due to be launched, my hometown of Fleetwood was the main port for sea crossings to Belfast. Express trains from London, Leeds and Manchester, brought passengers into Fleetwood’s main riverside station for the overnight sailing to Belfast. The White Star Line president J. Bruce Ismay and the great financier, Mr Pierpoint Morgan, also travelled from Fleetwood overnight.

I am from Eastleigh, a small city in-between Southampton and Winchester and generally grew up in Southampton. I now work in Southampton, after having lived and worked in London from 2012 - 2018. Two of my relatives were crew members on the Titanic. My mother’s relative worked in the engine room as a fireman, his name was Frederick C Marsh, he was lost at sea aged 39. My fathers relative was the Vienna Baker, his name was George William Feltham, he was lost at sea aged 36. I have always loved the history of the Titanic ever since I saw the 1997 film when I was probably about 5 years old. Our family has always discussed our connection to the ill-fated ship and I carry on that conversation the most out of all of us. I find it so significant and touching that both my mother and father both had relatives who secured promising posts on the ship of dreams only to tragically go down with her on her maiden voyage. I remember them often. I love following your videos due to their historical accuracy and expert handling of sensitive topics. Keep doing what you are doing and I will stay tuned! Always watching this space to see what the outcome of your hard work and dedication will be :)

Walter died in the sinking, his body was recovered, and hes buried here in Cedar Rapids at Oak Hill cemetery alongside Mahala and Berthe. Its also of note that Mahala died on Walters birthday in 1945. Plymouth UK, a picture of Plymouth's harbour (Plymouth Sound) hung over the fireplace in the first class smoking room, purportedly where Thomas Andrew's was standing as the ship went down. Plymouth harbour is home to one of the oldest naval bases in Europe. When Napoleon was captured after the battle of Waterloo he was brought back to England and kept as a prisoner onboard a ship in Plymouth Sound. It's also the city that the Mayflower departed from in 1620 bringing the Pilgrims to the New World. It's my city and I'm proud of our maritime history.

I know an accurate way to determine the true hue of the 'White Star Buff' (the color of the lower section of the funnels)! For an AI / a neural network would be perfectly suitable, the given fixed points such as average skin color of the passengers, sea gulls, position of the sun, average brightness of the sea at a given time, Bullaug reflections, the titanium white of the boat deck, including the exact photosensitivity of the film rolls from that time algorithmically for reference. With proper computing precision, the true White Star Buff of the Titanic could be calculated so far that the human eye can no longer see any difference within the strongly limited spectrum, so the original White Star Buff would be practically (with high precision) found! That would not only be for the game but in general a milestone in the history of Titanic research!

Iowa wasn't as big of a state as it is now so it's kind of interesting how the story of Titanic spread far and wide. Although I have to say I do have a bit of a connection with the White Star Line. Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, there was the place where Manuel Uruchurtu, the only Mexican passanger of the Titanic was born. He was a politician during the Porfiriato period in Mexico, he traveled to Paris france in 1911 to visit the exiliated president Porfirio Díaz, and planned to went back to Mexico in April 1912, he originaly was going to travel in the RMS Oceanic but due to the coal strike, he was transfered to the Titanic. He boarded the ship in Cherbourg, France, and stayed in her during the whole voyage until the sinking. Because he was well known in the first class, he had granted a seat in a lifeboat the night the Titanic sank, but he ceded it to a american woman called Elizabeth, because she was saying to the crew to let her in because she had a husband and a child in New York waiting for her. Sadly, Manuel Uruchurtu died in the sinking of the Titanic, and later was discovered that Elizabeth didnt have any husband or child's in New York, but she promised to Manuel Uruchurtu to travel to his birth town, Hermosillo, to tell his mother that he died in the Titanic sinking. But, she did it in 1924, 12 years after his death.

Churchill rewarded the republic independence if they agreed to side with the British secretly during the war. Other parts of the empire struck the same deal.
