Күн бұрын

Hello and welcome to todays vlog. Todays video is from the Titanic museum in Belfast which had reopened following the storm. So I went to go and see the titanic and how it went from an idea to drawings to a ship and then to its untimely sinking on it maiden voyage in April 1912. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Come along for the voyage of Titanic.

Hi there, I really enjoyed this video! Great to sit back and watch it, I was there years ago and it was a good visit. Worth the money, I think belfast is becoming a great city :)

Went to see a travelling exhibition at MOSI Manchester several years ago. Your ticket was a boarding pass with soeone's name, travelling class etc., on it. The exhibition was great, with aetefacts and 'the big piece' of ship's hull that had been salvaged plus a big chunk of iceberg. The sobering part was at the end, when you looked for the name on your boarding pass/ticket amongst those either rescued or not - mine was that of a young third class Irish girl, probably immigrating to USA for a better life - she didn't make it. This small 'conceit' really brought home individual fates and stories. Thanks for your video - I haven't visited this museum yet but it is on my bucket list.

I was at that exhibition too, it was a quite a bit more than 'several years ago' 😄. Yeah, the whole thing was very sobering, I cried a lot, particularly regarding the personal effects that were on show, the chilled metal 'iceberg' was weird, somehow made the whole room around it a lot cooler than you'd expect. Did you touch the hull piece? I did, there was a hand sized hole to do so, so it'd have been rude not to do; cried a lot at that too, it felt so cold despite being room temperature, felt so massively solid, hugely thick close up, even the rivets were huge. One could well imagine that people imagined it'd be so much safer than it was. My 'Character' died too, along with his wife, they weren't poor far from it, just old, they were travelling second class returning home to retire, having spent years in England, they apparently chose to let others have their life-boat places, crazy how that stuff stays with you isn't it ...

Sad that Belfast missed out on the earlier artifact salvages. Titanic’s birthplace deserves better. Thanks for the tour, anyway.

Who would have ever imagined one of history's greatest disasters would some day generate so much enthusiasm?

The story of how the ship went from a drawing to a ship is a story worth telling. The lessons learned from the disaster live on to this day. The museum pays respect to the dead and also tells the story of the ship in equal measure

I wonder how many people have tricked their friends into standing next to the titanic sign for a photo, only for them to photograph them with the first 3 letters

I'm sure that the design of the museum was built to the same size as the bow of Titanic.

The message about pack Ice & large bergs ahead never made it to the bridge of Titanic or they would have certainly slowed or even stopped and picked their way through in daylight.
