It IS really cool, and there are many more true stories included than we might initially think! Hell, he might even have gotten he inspiration for Jack because there WAS a young man named Jack who survived the sinking by jumping off the boat and into the water, except that Jack was able to cling to one of the overturned collapsibles before being saved.

they represented Isidor and Ida Straus. basically the wife was told to get on the lifeboat but she reportedly said to her husband "We have lived together for many years, when you go, I go." and they were last seen holding there hands and go somewhere in the ship. they knew they would die.

Even as a kid I knew rose and Jack weren't real. I used to watch Titanic on two vhs tapes, at the part where Jack and Rose are doing the sketchbook scene (not her getting sketched) if you did the old "pause/play" over and over you actually get to see the women in his sketchbook, I was always so fascinated at the details they added in even though it was possible no one would see it.

Jack and Rose may not have existed in real life, but James Cameron was able to use the their relationship as a compelling plot point that emphasized the horror of the titanic coming down and what it was like especially for survivors

Actually: Jack Dawson was named after one of the few ppl at the graveyard of ppl who died on the Titanic. I believe his name was Joseph Dawson. And NO the rest of the story is not real but his name came form somewhere

I think Jeremy is too optimistic. Sadly we are seeing a decline and people are starting to identify more with their ethnic groups. The closest we got to unifying everyone in America was probably the 80s-2000s. That all broke apart in the 2010s. I used to believe we had a unified future. Now I don’t see that. I live in a very diverse part of the country and it’s very left-leaning politically here. There is no community as immigration increases. Crime has gone up because no one feels connected to the city they live in. No sense of duty to each other. It’s depressing…
