Was it hard to build? Do you need experience or could an average person assemble the set?

What a great work of Art! Absolutely astonishing! On the first view, this seemed to me like a real 1:1 model of the Titanic steam engine. Only on the second view I realized, this was built out of Lego. But I have one question: Which part of the engine was it, that set the scale for your model? (And which scale is it, btw?) Meaning, which part could not been built smaller? Was there any piece or brick which had the correct size for your model, so that every other part was modelled around it? I hope you understand what I mean and I'm looking forward to your response. Greets from Germany.

I'm nearly done building this kit and am unsure about recommending it to others. The quality of the bricks is not quite up to the standard set by LEGO. Specifically, the studs are a bit rounded at their top surfaces and this results in less adhesion between bricks. I had to redesign the service platform halfway up the engine - the extremely fragile original design kept falling apart. I have concerns about the durability of the connectors for the valve rods to the crankshaft. I have not used any glue but am expecting that without some gluing the model will experience structural failures when the electric motors are used. Finally, installation of the low pressure cylinder heads is very difficult because there is inevitable pressures on the valves that results in all sorts of problems. The model is beautiful and very engaging to build, but also requires endless patience, careful planning, and additions steps to succeed. Finally, everything involving the valves requires care such as using temporary pieces to hold the valve rods upright during most of the build.

Where did you purchase it from so I can avoid it? Maybe different company’s will produce different quality bricks, I’m interested in this MOC so I’ll see if I can do some digging into finding a higher quality version

@WpGaming1 Also I purchased about US$200 in pieces from LEGO to build a custom platform on which to mount the model. Otherwise, moving it is very difficult - the directions warn it could collapse easily when lifted.

i am 75% done with my model and i cannot run the model for more than 30 seconds before the blocks holding the motors and gear train together come apart and the gears stop meshing. i have tried adding petroleum jelly to the large main cylinder cranks to reduce friction which helped, but it is still failing. i think i am going to have to use super glue there to keep the structure together.

@@erikdevereux4997 i changed the design using the same red pieces from the kit that make the multiple beams that run along the bottom from side to side, to seriously reinforce the bottom of the unit and now mine is rock solid as before moving the model at all would cause it to want to separate in the middle. i just have an issue where the motor gear train come apart after 30 seconds or less, so i cannot actually get my model to run. i am very close to using super glue on those bricks to keep the gear train from falling part.
