Just finished this today, Saturday April 15, 2023. 11:20 pm. I didn't even realize it was the 15th until near the end of this vid. To think I was at work at 2:20 am silently complaining about my backache at the time so many were dying 111 years ago feels wrong. We're separated by over a century, yet we're all very much still fellow Humans. They all had lives, dreams, hopes, worries, loved ones, and definitely never wanted to die nor thought about it happening. Same as you, me and all living today and all of the tomorrows. Live and love fully because we never know when our last second is to be. ❤ Beautiful and touching video. Hearing the voices speaking about it, knowing they literally witnessed and survived it just hit me in a way I can't describe. Titanic and her passengers and crew have been in my soul since I can remember, and I'm 50 now. I thought I've seen almost all the videos about her, but this was a new find. I'm glad we crossed paths. Thank you so much for making this. It's a beautiful, loving memorial in its own way.

the documentary "titanic ; the final mystery" is probably about 99% accurate of what happened that night : a cold weather mirage that obscured the view and made it seem like the iceberg was MUCH smaller then it really was ; its a really cmpelling documentary and i recommend every titanic buff watch it ; its the most accurate explanaition to date

This is a better documentary than most Titanic stories because it did not emphasize the passengers' material possessions, only the gut level horror and tragedy of it all. Man's pride, arrogance, greed, discrimination against classes were mostly the reasons for this tragedy. And naming it Titanic, an evil word! God showed that He was more powerful with His iceberg and ocean. How dare people had said that not even God could sink the ship!

This was wonderfully done. The ending from 47:29 and onward is especially touching. The beautiful music and those final interview voiceovers really pulled at my heartstrings. Hearing Boxhall say, "We heard all the screams and we couldn't do anything..." and then Prentice saying, "Cold. It was freezing. So it killed everybody. They didn't last long." while staying with Ricks until he died which then left him basically by himself until it was all just silent is truly heartbreaking.

Thank you ! I'm glad you liked it! And I'm very grateful the ending worked out quite the way it did... I wanted to really put an emotional punch at the end since we finally see a chunk of the stern section. I'm really grateful it worked out and folks were moved by it :) thank you!
@inthemixx86642 жыл бұрын
@@StoriedTreasures You're very welcome! It sure did. I thought it was quite fitting to end it with the back of the stern since as we know, it sadly was where many clung in the final moments and played a huge part on that night. Unfortunately, it seems many documentaries rarely spend much time showing the stern and that part of the wreck getting overlooked. I would guess it's because, compared to the clarity of the bow, it's in such unrecognizable shape and hard to visualize what you're actually seeing. Well done!

@StoriedTreasures2 жыл бұрын
@@terracottaneemtree6697 Heeeyyyy thank you for the comment ^^ Well, I can say for certain that there was definitely an Iceberg, but it is indeed TRUE the Titanic had a fire smoldering. It occured following the transfer of coal due to the strike, my memory is a bit hazy on details but I believe it was burning since Southampton. its unclear exactly how badly the Titanic's hull was damaged by the fire, but I think there were some aboard the ship that knew her bunker was burning. The coal bunker wouldnt be enough to sink the ship though, it only went from side to side across ONE bulkhead, so in theory It would have only compromised two of Titanics compartments had it really gotten out of control. :) Ive no doubt though that several passeners knew about it and even suspected they were being asked to evacuate due to it. There was one passenger who famously thought that abandoning Titanic in mid-atlantic was somehow NORMAL to get to New York!

Narrator mentions the reason for lifeboats moving away from Titanic being the fear of suction. But my understanding is that the bigger concern was abt passengers still on deck who might swarm the lifeboat in panic and overload it.
@StoriedTreasures2 жыл бұрын
Your not wrong, it was more a bit of timing and I ended the video after the Stern disappeared below the surface. The general 'mood' was that initially there was no danger and they'd all be back aboard for breakfast... Then as is became clear she was going down the boats wanted to pull away so they wouldn't be in danger of being sucked down... Then towards the end, the last couple boats feared a panicked mob would swamp them. I actually plan to address this in a future episode :) but thank you for the feedback, and I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video.

@@StoriedTreasures I remember a Mythbusters testing the theory of a ship's suction pulling us down and they busted it. The reason he survived the freezing water?

@@robvangessel3766 Yes! I remember that episode :D that was awesome lol 🤣 but I took it with a grain of salt. Titanic was so much larger than the vessel they sank and the openings were larger. 2nd officer Lightoller was sucked against a grating in front of the forward funnel, and I think there are a few accounts of people going into portholes and windows as they burst ((kinda like we saw in the movie Titanic)). I'm sure folks were pulled into the funnel openings when they fell too. But I digress lol 😆 I wasn't there and I'd hate to ever be around such a nightmarish scenario lol

What would a lifeboat look like if it had 90 - 120 people in it, with a person sitting on a lap of another. Would it have been possible? It would be extremely uncomfortable, but if possible surely better than the deaths incurred.
@StoriedTreasures2 жыл бұрын
It wouldnt have been possible just due to bouyancy issues... One lifeboat in particular, I believe it was #11 had anywhere from 60-80 people aboard it, and was so heavily laden that it sank into the water with mere inches to spare. The overload were transferred into other boats later and by the time Carpathia arrived she was floating normally. Its curious to debate how many more MIGHT have been saved, since the boats were designed to carry 65, if maybe they pushed it a little bit. Its funny because the boats were not very big, and in many cases sometimes they thought even UNDER-LOADED they were still 'full'. Makes for a fun 'What if' scenario. So yeah, to answer your question the loading of 90-120 would certainly have sunk the boat. They definitely could have carried MORE but not that much. :) A great question btw!
@boobierubi85672 жыл бұрын
That makes me think too because they said them life boats were tested and filled with 70 men . And men by body mass and just overall size are bigger and weigh more than women and kids . So if a lifeboat can hold 70 men who are probably on average 160-185 pounds I wonder if it could of at least held 85 women who were much lighter like 105-125 pounds than the weight of 70 men.

I understand a lot of things went wrong for them people that night.. but the main thing was there just wasn't enough TIME to get off that ship for everyone! even if they had 17 boats or 62.. it really didn't matter in their case... not enough time! two of them last boats barely got away saved some people! you have to remember also they didn't start offloading passengers until about an hour into the sinking!

How do people actually believe the crows nest all of sudden disappeared. It was 100% stolen. It was perfectly intact and then one year gone altogether. The mast itself probably collapsed because of submersibles.

I spoke to a couple people who have dove the wreck of Titanic in the early years. There is a photograph of the crow's nest and some video of it that was taken the year after Robert Ballard dove the site in the Alvin... The Crow's nest with severely damaged in the shots and the following expedition shows the crow's nest to be missing. It looks like it was struck by one or more submersibles and simply fell apart.... I might actually do a video about it specifically as I think I've located evidence of the crow's nest in one of the forward cargo holds directly below where it used to sit. The Crow's nest was made of thin sheet metal so it would have been weaker than the mast or even superstructure. But yes, absolutely it collapsed due to interference by submersibles.. though no one has officially owned up to it.

The woodwork on Titanic was almost unique. I say this because if you are truly interested in beautiful rendering in wood I have a suggestion. See as many Christian Churches as you can while you can see them. So many are disappearing. My # 1 suggestion is to see the grand churches of Montreal Canada. Especially Notre-Dame Basilica. Yes you can still see wood working perfection.

The bit about Boat 1 was purposefully sensational, not based on facts. And the photo used of the occupants of that boat was used without permission from its owner who photoshopped the original and has noticed it as his.

I'd be happy to know who the original copyright owner of that photo is actually. Mind letting me know so I can give em a shoutout? This is a press photo that I found on google in several different formats and was cropped already when I found it, though I think the video editor might have further cropped it. The situation with boat 1 has always been a fantastic aspect of Titanic sinking to me, and one Id like to further explore in a future video. So yeah, Id be grateful if you could provide the owner of that photo? Ive seen it on at least 3 or four different sites. Do you know who the owner is? Does anyone own the original negative?

Ah, do you have an Iphone by chance? One of my friends also had some audio issues when they watched it on their phone. I apologize, I thought I'd fixed that.
