Just bought Blaser fluid (the kind for regular CNC) for my home garage VF-Oe. Great smell. Yes, this matters: cutting oil that smells bad creates a horrible work environment. Not much more expensive than regular oil, so well worth it.

Just wondering what measuring equipment they have for measuring the tools they make. And also how they dress the wheels.
@Philiamq3 жыл бұрын
@@l.e.bassdesign not sure what they have but most pre setters now have the ability to measure tools. If your wanted a professional tool measuring machine a Helicheck or Zoller are the ones to go for. With the machine they have, the “a” axis has the hollow shaft option for cylindrical grinding, attaching a grit wheel on an arbour in this axis you are able to dress wheels in place. Otherwise you would need a specific wheel dresser such as a kirner 43c 👍🏻

Are you using any Abrasive Technology diamond abrasive wheels?
@edgarkreiter6383 жыл бұрын
for carbide tools they‘re likely to use resin or sinter-bonded diamond wheels, and for HSS Tools they probably will use Cubic Boron Nitride Wheels, resin bonded
@s0ak1tncider3 жыл бұрын
@@edgarkreiter638 we manufacture both. Our Elgin facility does resin bond and the Columbus facility I work in manufactures PBS and CBN

I dont run this type of machine specifically,i run another brand but i'd say a year in a shop (slow learning as machines are expensive, material is expensive, and wheels are expensive) and you'll be able to run alot of different step tools / form tools.
@Philiamq3 жыл бұрын
It can take 5-10 years to run one of these by yourself fully and to achieve the level of accuracy these machines are capable of, a year of use is usually a good enough amount of time to say you can “run” a machine. These machines are only as accurate as the wheels you use, if you use sub par wheels, you won’t find the tolerances this machine can actually hit... and they’re incredibly small tolerances.
