The tooling resolution on that is just amazing. Unbelievable how far modern cnc has come. Just because you have the tools, though, doesn't mean that you can just instantly do this either. The knowledge of the equipment, and the programmers behind it truly are world class.

Machine memory in the new TNC640 Heidenhain is ... RAM memory: 4 GB Program memory: SSDR approx. 32 GB HDR approx. 160 GB I've personally downloaded prog's of over 100,000 blocks ... and only takes second's to download from USB ... You can always do the download "old school" and drip feed the prog's using either RS232 or Ethernet or even USB ...

Love the contrast between the lion and the base on the final shot. It throws you off at first because you'd think you might want a beautifully shaped polished base - but with it left like that, it's a fantastic display of the before and after. Mastery

For anybody that's wondering that roughly $5,000 in titanium, $2,000-$3,000 worth of carbide tooling and if it was a customer probably $3000 worth of machine time so that lion head is worth $10,000+! That's pretty bad ass especially when you figure an aluminum one would still cost $5,000 if you walked into a cnc machine shop and said "I want one of these please".

Hey, funny seeing you here! I've been keeping up with your channel since the success of the first marble machine and I must say, I am anxious to see (and hear) the result of all this work but it only makes me happier to see you and the team doing it *right* this time. I'm a student of mechanical engineering and it is interesting to see you learning from your team and all sorts of youtubers that I also enjoy watching. Keep up the work, Martin! If you do see this comment, I would love to see a video in the future on how you come up with music for the marble machine. This will probably evolve as you actually work with the completed machine, but it isn't like a guitar or a keyboard where you can play some notes and chords and see what comes of it. Is it a more theory-based approach? Cheers from Ohio, USA!

I work in a manufacturing company that runs machines 24hrs a day. I personally don't run them, I just load the metal billets in a Okuma and then bring them over to a Mori Seiki to be finished. I've been here for almost a year and even working 12 hrs a day I'm still astonished that a solid piece of steel goes in and comes out into whatever shape possible. I've learned a lot and I believe this is something I truly want to be doing for the rest of my life.

@@Ozziepeck11 Yes but, in the end the machine can't run anything without good code. Different software makes different kinds of code. Which could be efficient or not efficient, depending on what the Post Processor is doing.
@ramzisabra9235
@ramzisabra9235 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ozziepeck11The G-Code and however the CNC machine handled it is nothing in terms of code complexity. You need the generating software to be able to manage the 3D structure of the part being machined with enough precision without using insane amounts of storage, memory, or processing power. That software needs to be able to derive toolpaths with sufficiently high accuracy while avoiding collisions or other mechanical failures. It's nothing to sneeze at ...

What's amazing to me is that even with all the time and such a fine step over, there are still places missed where that .375 ball endmill couldn't reach down into. Great work. Really liked it. I am fan of machines and when you add machine and your brain with code anything can be possible. BE A LION. Good work guys. Really really liked it.

I just stepped into a CNC operation position at my fabrication job, and while I was interested in machining from videos on KZbin, there's an ungodly amount of skill, insight and preparation that I didn't realize beforehand. It is quite incredible.

When machine things like this do you only use full 5 axis to do the final finishing pass. Are all the roughing stages done in 3+2?
@TITANSofCNC

As you can see from this video... 3+2 to rough as it’s always faster and more rigid. Full 5th to finish and rough areas that are hard to reach.
