I used to make this recipe a lot when I was a freshman in college. My fave. I'd eat the whole thing by myself. (Probably not the best idea but it was soo good). I even added bananas at times.

Hollywood didn't do her "dirty", she merely was discovered to have said and done very racist things. I was once a huge fan of hers, purchased and read many of her books, but after her racist past was discovered, I couldn't, in good conscience, continue to support her. How would I explain this to my son, who is half black? That said, obviously I still watch a handful of her videos, those that I have a keen interest in, and I LOVE all things breakfast goodies!

I would like to see one person in the south that didn't feel reverse discrimination isn't the norm. By the way, have YOU ever said something you wish you hadn't? Hmmmm...are you an absolute angel? Then shut the frig up. What is even worse is her own son won't stand by her side through all this.

@@morgancalvi6675 Yes, I've DEFINITELY said things I wish I hadn't, particularly to my mom. But I don't ever remember calling people names, much less denigrate them because of the color of their skin. And I most certainly wouldn't dream of having black people, (only those employees of hers who were black) be the "help" at a plantation wedding because it would be reminiscent of, and I'll quote her, "the days of pre-civil war". She went on to sympathize with slave owners, granted these slave owners were apparently her ancestors, but still... I could see myself sympathizing with the slaves, not the slave owners. You add this to her other transgressions with black people and it simply adds up to her being a racist.

@@pameladamaris9213 please realize, she had said things she said years before they trashed her so badly. I take it you, yourself, are black or are speaking on behalf of someone black. It is incredibly hard to live in a black world and be white...and that is no excuse at all. But it makes for people hating other situations that make life so hard...sadly, people now think those that hate situations they are in...are racist. She could have moved out of the South...I did. It's kind of reversed what the blacks went through, and I can certainly sympathize. But being cruel and hateful years later makes no sense and it certainly doesn't make you the bigger person. Words hurt and she wouldn't have fessed up if she didn't think what she said was wrong...right? But you can't hold grudges forever. That's why people get ulcers, high blood pressure and die so young of strokes and heart attacks. Your opinion is that she is a racist. How much of thse feelings though are mingled with hate? Ask yourself that. Also, how much of these hateful feelings lead to ignorance?

@@morgancalvi6675 If I hated her, I wouldn't be watching the episodes that I'm interested in. I don't hate her, I hate how she thinks and refers to those of a different color of skin. Here's a little story for ya: when I was in middle school, I was told by a fellow classmate about a certain racist hate group, (three letters). I came home to my mom and shared what was told to me, adding that I would like to "fight" all those who hated because of the color of another's skin. My mother sat me down and gently explained that I would then be no better than these people as I would be exhibiting hatred as well. She went on to explain that many of these people believe what they believe because they've been taught this, and are not familiar with other ways of thinking in reference to race. She also said to combat hate is to show love. Lol That was my mother... I don't hate Deen, what I cannot tolerate is her stance against those with darker pigmentation. BTW, Deen didn't come clean about her thoughts on African Americans, she testified in a court of law while under oath to tell the truth when asked questions from the prosecuting attorneys. She could have lied, but I'm guessing that she didn't because either 1) she doesn't think lying is moral, or 2) too much evidence.

It's funny you mentioned Chateau Elan. Years ago you mentioned it on your show and described a white wine. I looked everywhere for it and never did find it. To this day, I still look for it whenever I go to a new liquor store.

I have made this many times. I put pecan in mine. I would have used a spatula to get all the butter out of the dish. Pink is definitely your color. I have never heard of fat Tuesday. I asked my daughter if she knew and she had never heard of it. We are apostolic.
