I don't know how Michael does it. Your lemon blossoms are all over the kitchen and the smell.... and he calmly walks through making his tuna salad. That's beyond willpower! Good for you Michael. The lemon blossoms look like they will melt in your mouth. And 5 dozen! Wow 😳 that's a lot of blossoms. The plate from Susan's mom was gorgeous. Ms. Paula I never even knew about lemon or orange blossoms. I was born in NYC and moved out to the island when I was one years old. I never had them. But after you made this wonderful recipe I’m going to have the food delivery people send me the ingredients and I’m going to be baking with my granddaughter. So thank you Ms. Paula. I adore you. These are my favorite! My whole family loves them. I’ve also done these with chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding, then add orange zest to the batter, and orange juice and zest to the glaze. It taste like a glazed donut.

Duncan Hines makes a fantastic Lemon Supreme cake mix and it does not taste like chemicals. I have been using it for years. I would highly recommend it.

I’ve been making these since the ‘60’s. My recipe calls for scratch white cake and the bath is composed of fresh squeezed orange juice and powdered sugar only. After a few years, I added lemon and lime flavors. The color combination looks lovely on a crystal cake pedestal. Big mistake-I’ve been asked-begged even-to make these for showers , wedding anniversary and other celebrations for decades. 🙂 only one failure-left cakes in bath too long, and they disintegrated- three hours before the occasion. I spooned small amounts of this disaster into mini cupcake liners, froze them, put a dollop of whipped cream and a bit of zest on each. Same number of compliments. 😋

Paula, my Mom made a lemon cake in a tube pan, (now I make it), that is similar. It has a glaze made with lemon juice & confectioners sugar that is heated on the stove, & boiled for 1 minute. When the cake comes out of the oven we poke it with a fork & pour the hot glaze on the hot cake. I love this recipe cuz once the cake comes out & you pour on the glaze, you’re done. After it cools, ya just take the cake out of the tube pan, put it on a pretty plate, & serve it. This cake is so moist, & for such a simple cake, it’s always a big hit.

Anyone that hasn't made these yet, MAKE THEM!!! OmG, they are so awesome. However, the "bath" should be a little bit thinner. Soaks in and dries faster and they look beautiful. Imo. And don't forget, nobody puts baby in a corner! Lol 😂

The best I can gather, they are staying in Bobby’s guesthouse while their home is being remodeled. Not sure if this is true. Just comments splattered here or there in different videos. Same for me...I missed like 8 months and was lost. So happy to Michael with her this morning. 🥰

ms paula this my FAV sweet treat in my life, my mom and friends make it for me, and i'm as old as you. the ONLY sweet i every eat. i'm bias but one of the SECRET ingredients is jello lemon pudding (cause i worked for the company, i'm retired now , but they have a GREAT recipe kitchen, nothing against your expertise). that said it's my opinion the lemon SYRUP on top, not the icing stuff, that makes this HEAVEN. sorry we disagree on that matter. LOL. love you paula.

I agree Paula, the last time I cheated instead of making my own lemon cake from scratch & bought a boxed lemon cake. Horribly artificial. I'll eat anything, this went out and I dropped it on the ground instead of the trash can...the birds got a treat. If I made these, I'd probably eat 90% of them. Looks so yummy! Question - if making the orange version of this, do you still use lemon pudding mix or just vanilla? Obviously they don't make orange pudding mix. Or would orange jello work? These look incredible!!

Jello would definitely not work. Jello contains loads of sugar and also gelatin, in order to "set". The consistency of the cake would change, and interfere with the rising. This, I know, from experience. Use vanilla pudding with orange extract. You will get a nice true orange flavor, and it isn't artificial tasting.

Great video! Looks yummy and nice simple recipe. Paula seems nice and relaxed. And loved the stories regarding the ballerinas, the wedding platter, and Paula's love of Dirty Dancing. Nice tips (don't use lemon cake mix) and attention to detail too. Also, Michael Groover makes an appearance lol. Love that no muffin liners are used. They're handy when you're on the go but in general I always find muffin liners annoying lol.
