I definitely concur. Their outfits in Memphis were ridiculous and foppish, but they seemed a LOT tougher then the average pretty boy. Same with the Fantastics, though I dig the Fab's more. Fairly strange, as I usually dig ultra-violent Heels, but these "Pretty Boys" hung in there with some of the top Heel teams, when it came to brawling.

Stan Lane is one of the more underrated tag team wrestlers.
@robertschumann77374 жыл бұрын
That’s because of his days with the Midnight Express. Dennis Condrey set the bar high with Bobby Eaton for a heel tag team. Eaton was in the championship mix in Memphis but they were both strong singles wrestlers before they were taken to Mid South in a talent swap and put together with Jim Cornette. Either one of them could do the heavy lifting in a tag team match. That’s what fans came to expect from them and when Stan replaced Dennis their in ring performance changed quite a bit. They became more of a traditional tag team with Bobby usually starting the match, then random tags with Stan and he would only doing one of his karate kicks or a suplex (sue-play in Mid South) then tagging Bobby back in. When the Babyface’s would do their comeback or hot tag it was almost always on Bobby. I don’t know if Stan had an injury history or if he just slowed down with time but the difference is night and day between him in the Fabulous Ones and his run with the Midnight/Heavenly Bodies. Although I will say when Stan joined the Midnight their appearance and out of ring performance was way better. Condrey had a goofy walk and he always wore the handkerchief around his neck. They always had different outfits and robes. They looked like 2 singles wrestlers that had been recently put together as a tag team. After Stan had joined for a bit they started wearing matching tights and robes. Stan was more photogenic and with him they were able to do their baby face turn in the late 80’s. I doubt anyone at that time would have excepted Condrey as a babyface.

The Road Warriors, God rest their souls, were a couple of big blowed up wussbags sometimes. They were all tough when it came to not losing a match, but it would always end with them leaving. Then the older they got the less confrontational they got similar to Hogan. Then leave all but crying, even if it meant leaving to another continent like they would do just to avoid the Steiners.
