It also proves how little respect he has for the wrestling business and highlights the depths to which the business has sunk in general. To the casual viewer, there is no way that somebody like him could be taken seriously. Remember, wrestling is supposed to appeal to everyone (whether they are wrestling fans or not), not just people on the internet who enjoy the sort of stupidity he participates in. That means creating a product that is believable. Keep in mind, as a wrestler, you are supposed to try to make fans to SUSPEND THEIR DISBELIEF. Everyone knows wrestling is fake. You'd have to be an idiot not to know that it's a work. The mere fact that two men can punch each other in the face so many times during the course of a match and emerge without a mark on their faces is proof of that. However, once again, as a wrestler, you are supposed to try to make people suspend their disbelief, not to go out of your way to convince them that the whole thing is a load of BS. In my mind, doing otherwise shows a blatant lack of respect for the pro-wrestling business and for yourself as a professional wrestler. And before you mention how great of an athlete he is, YES, I agree. He is a good wrestler. However, a match should be more than just one high spot after the next in an effort to simulate Street Fighter, and I think that any veteran wrestler would agree with me (Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, etc.).

And then tried to paint the debut of Boogeyman on OVW as something that legit scared people, moms throwing their babies in the air etc etc and yet when one looks at the tape of it, nobody sees to be bothered(which really makes his reaction towards Santino afterwards that much more stupid.) The kid that got superkicked had a blast. It was his birthday and they got together with the kid and his father and put it all together for him. As for the 9 yr old girl, that was great to watch as it showed Kenny being professional and safely working with her. It's an experience she will never forget. When you go out there and try to make it look as good and believable as you can so that people can actually get emotionally invested in it and then the next match is a complete joke, it kind of ruins it. And yes, it is scripted and I've known that at least on some level since I was a kid but when it's done right people do get invested in the product and that sells tickets. I thought that match with the kid was a testament to how good in ring he really is. He could have phoned that in. But he put together a fun little match with that kid and told a cute story. He made it all look good, sold everything just right, and together they made the spots on her look rough, while being safe as can be. It's sort of like Jericho and Austin talking about how they used to practice selling and creating impact by wrestling the invisible man. It's about knowing your opponent, and knowing your part in it to make it look good, no matter who the opponent is.

Omega is a LORD. Anyone in NJPW can be dead. Dead in the ring and still cut a better promo and out perform the entire WWE trash roster outside of Rollins, AJ, and sometimes Balor. Not to say why're better. Because honestly, a lesser known NJPW performer is just as good as AJ, Balor, and Rollins. That speaks volumes. Japan is really really high on the respect stuff. @@tw475 in theory maybe, in practice no. Because wrestling is right in front of our eyes while movies are shoot and made before. But mainly because of one thing: disbelief. When you go to a movie, you suspend the disbelief because of the illusion taking place on the screen. In wrestling you have to rely solely on the workers ability to tell a story in order to the crowd to get into the match (ofc now people wants exhibition matches with no build up and with tons of over the top moves that ends up meaning nothing more than just moves), so if you act goofy and purposely, like omega, do every move in the repertoire every night, you break the 4th wall just to show off, you sacrifice in ring storytelling for your own self promotion. Its like saying to the crowd "its not a real match, its exhibition, so look how athletic i am". To me Omega is the Godard of wrestling. Godard is the type of director that will take his actors to speak to the audience in front of camera just for the sake of it, to show that he is "creative and innovative". He also said : "Cinema is not a work its an art". Omega is stating pretty much the same for wrestling. But the two fails to acknowledge that they depend on workers in order to have great matches or movies. Omega is not a great worker by any means, because if he doesnt have a a good worker in his matches, his matches will be glorified spotfests that will be forgotten the next week. He got his break in new japan because he worked with so much great talents and is over with the audience because of charisma and the japanese style that is more forgiving for spotmonkeys because of the respect the audience for the athletic performance. But again its okada that carried him. Without njpw, omega would continue to wrestle blow up dolls and do the dick spot with joey ryan for a living.
