I had a personal incident with Spivey back in Nassau (Bahamas) when I was about 20 in 1989. We were at a bar named Waterloo and I was standing behind Spivey and Johnny Ace aka John Laurinitis, the former WWE executive and brother of Road Warrior Animal and uncle of the NFL's Jim Laurinitis. I was 5 foot 6 and about 145 pounds at the time. Anyway Laurinitis pinches Spivey's ass from behind and Spivey turned around to see yours truly standing there. We were on a wooden patio about 8 feet off the grass and the look Spivey gave me was not good. This man was a foot taller than me and about 150 pounds heavier and a trained wrestler. I was thinking I cannot escape in this crowd. Laurinitis must have realized something bad was going to happen and his conscience kicked in and he confessed before Spivey grabbed me. I was not a happy camper and am still pissed 32 years later at "Johnny Ace", douchebag.

The best description I ever heard of the fight was by Jim Brunzell. I think Spivey is selling himself short when he describes the fight because Brunzell said it was the worst beating he had ever seen someone get!
@JasonL772 жыл бұрын
Brunzell even said that he saw someone walk into the locker room a day or two after the fight and at first he thought that it was a Japanese wrestler that Vince had just signed. Turns out, it was Adrian. Apparently, Adrian’s face was so swollen that he looked Asian.

@@kenterminateddq5311 That is the word from other wrestlers shoots, including Tom Billington ( Dynamite Kid, R.I.P. ) & former NWA performers. I watch/ read too much of these to bookmark stuff, but you should be able to find a Skyscrapers vs Road Warriors match on here. Mark was green at the time & Dan didn't like the way the RW's were taking liberties with Marc during the match. Dan's chair shots on them were allegedly legit hits. From another wrestler's account, Dan confronted them post match in the locker room & the RW's backed down. What's questionable about Dan's account here though is that he claimed busted Adrian up in ring. Other shoots on here from B.Brian Blair & Wayne ( HTM ) among others, claimed that Dan confronted Adrian in the locker room about how stiff he was. Adrian charged him a couple times until Dan left hooked him so hard on the side of his face that Adrian's cheek bone was sticking out.

When Adrian *died in that van crash,* news in Ontario kept reporting that *the bear died in the van too.* We ALL imagined the horror of it. Now when I do a search I can't find ANY mention of the bear being there. I wonder if the story was *corrected or just sanitized.*

Been trying to find this WWE match where Spivey has a jobber in a leg-scissors on the mat. After a while, Spivey who still has the guy in the hold, gets him to balance on his head (?). After this he gets to his feet and kicks him down (while the guy's still balancing on his head). Pretty sure it was Spivey and around 1986. If anyone else can remember this let me know. My first experience at questioning wrestling's realness. Funny stuff.

I was at that show at the IMA Sports Arena. We saw Danny fuck Adrian up pretty bad, but we weren't sure if we had just seen a match "get real" or if it was an accident (the term "shoot" wasn't popularized yet since this was a couple decades before the internet becoming commonplace). The next day, our schoolbus driver asked me if I had gone to the event and told me Danny did indeed get legit pissed at Adrian and beat his ass, and her daughter worked at the hospital and treated him after.
