It pissed off the execs, who then stopped promotion of the show completely, and cancelled the show shortly after.

He should have just listened to execs have a little fiction for boost ratings so it wouldn’t have come true anyways. The Visit, where Titus and Erin try to show a social worker that Amy will be raised right, but Titus thinks his mom escaped from the mental hospital again (twist spoiler: Titus' mom was never there. She was found in Missouri dead from a suicide. It's implied that the woman is Titus' mom's ghost trying to get Titus' forgiveness before she can rest in peace).
