Your channel is the main venue in my belonging to an art community. I’ve been making art in most of my 79 years of life and have had limited success in selling my work. In all these years I have yet to connect meaningfully with other artists in my community. I suppose I actually prefer my own solitude in the creative process and find fulfillment with every advancement in understanding that process. I find your videos so important to me as I see your complete process-even framing your work and sending out copies of your book, etc.. It shows the complete life as an artist. Thank you so much for sharing your artist life with us.

I agree. There are so many of us relishing our solitude wondering what effect being with other artists would have on our work.

It's interesting - when I paint, I usually listen to music and it gets me into a rhythm, and after a while it stops because youtube asks me if I want to continue to listen, but I can't stop painting to go to computer and press yes, because I'm in the zone and so everything becomes silent, just like in your videos. I love that silence.

This video brought back beautiful memories of watching my grandfather Roy Best painting... The very word discipline is resonating in my mind and soul, something that I have let run amok...The filming of your video was better than watching a movie, which I rarely do...Thank you for sharing your God given talent...Sincerely, SBShaw

I am happy that I have found an artist that shows art techniques in the universal language or silence. I watched more intently I for years separated my painting from the business side resulting in giving my work away to people that otherwise would not hold art in their hands to perhaps admire enriching their lives. I have found peace in teaching elderly groups which some have never held a paint brush before. I have found pleasure in sharing and I feel richness from God.

Really enjoyed this one. Your thoughts are very common among any creative soul committed to earn a living through their art. Work of course is a positive, but too much work can also be a negative. It is all about finding the balance which I find that you have definitely found. A real pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Watching you paint is mesmerizing. So relaxing and getting hints to improve my techniques. Still new to watercolor and just for my enjoyment of creating. I live in western Australia. I was very sad that my town has no interesting buildings for a streetscape. I have so enjoyed your videos. I feel like I've become a little bit more at ease with brushes and washes. I'm going to create a cityscape with the buildings I wish were here. It's the light that I want to paint. Australia has amazing light. And I think it would make beautiful buildings. Thank you for your hard work in producing these videos. I find so much in each one.

Dear Titus. I love your videos. I’m an artist. Watercolor, oils are my favorites. People my favorite subjects. I recently made some acrylic monoprints that I love. I’m a 79 year old woman. I think of how Rembrandt must have looked, thought and worked like you. Almost. I live in sunny Colorado, USA. Not as rainy and ochre as you. But it’s late autumn now, wetter, more somber. It’s nice. This morning I walked my dog and saw the bright outline of a man’s figure as he walked on the road. I saw what you see. Love it. Thanks for your sharing in the videos.

Rick Rubin's new book The Creative Act; A Way of Being is simply fantastic (for all artists and creatives). Now, I'm going to add your Spotify playlist link to my music library. Thanks for sharing your process in the studio with us. The sound quality of the breeze blowing through the leaves outside your studio is pure nirvana passing through my headphones. Приска ми се пак да посетя твоето ателие и да потъна в атмосферата на прекрасните ти картини, да послушам приятния ти глас. Колко хубаво, че мога да си го позволя. I can relate with commission issues and have been burnt before. Now I make it very clear how long it can take and show the process of a composition and 2/3 down with contract. There are still so many that want to deal with NFTs or cryptocurrency that it is nauseating or people who would buy anything but you get the feeling that they are not spending their own money. It is sad that a handshake doesn’t mean to some what it used to. I hope that you can still enjoy painting and paint what you like. We all have to eat and make a living it doesn’t always mean that I enjoy every painting but I hope to get the hang of it soon.

This very much reminds me of the "discipline is freedom" attitude. What I think is particularly interesting, and is something you touched upon a bit talking about your clients creating a large scale version of your art, is this idea of discomfort and surrendering to mistakes, insecurities, criticism, etc. My own insecurities are usually around things like my lack of technical and artistic skill, especially as a new painter. But it's also interesting to me to hear how much you don't seem to care about that - it feels like you view skill almost as a secondary element to fascination and passion and authenticity. A great video as always, Titus!

Hello from Australia Titus. At 50+ and only just reconnecting with my creative self. I'm really identifying with your Authenticity, your process, your studio space even. My shed space is very similar in pragmatic aesthetic. Your style and the resulting work, I feel warm and as though I'm sitting in a very comfortable chair, viewing a moment in time to hold on to. One of those vivid memories we recall occasionally and feel intensely. Thank you for creating this content. Very much appreciate your generosity of spirit. Have subscribed and look forward to continuing this journey. Will have to backtrack and view from the beginning of course, all great stories have a beginning.

I've felt that same "energy" as an author. There's an unmistakable thrill when the thing in your head, that floats around as nimbly as a butterfly, appears before you in the real world. You've caught it, and now you can marvel at it. It usually comes maybe a few times a day when I'm writing. Rare, but precious.

Hi Titus! I love watching these and it may even help me to pick up my brush again….you know, we wait for the right time, but it’s not really that as much as our time is already being taken up with so much….what a dream to do what you enjoy and get paid for it. Not having to be tied down with work that doesn’t give much satisfaction…..
