I got many questions about music. The music in these videos was made by myself. For those who are wondering what I am listening to wearing headphones, I decided to make a playlist on spotify:
open.spotify.com/playlist/2eS...
I will try to update this playlist once a week, and I hope you like it.
This week I finished the large watercolor of Deventer, I started this one in video 18. Then I made two sketches for houseportraits. One of those is a value sketch. I use these sketches to explain my clients how I would like to paint their house. Wednesday I delivered the large oilpainting I finished in video 10.
I love to read all your lovely comments and questions, so I did a short Q & A in the last minutes of this video.

Thank you for your videos. I've been trying to be looser in my watercolors...... I'm retired a few years ago and I picked up my painting again after a career as a Photoshop retoucher.... Your work is excellent. Stunning really subject matter. Choice of colors, atmosphere, and I like your commentary and I like your willingness to share with with the art community online. Many more artists are not as free with their ideas and I think you should be commended for that. Thank you very much

It is really cool that you are making music to match you art. I have been watching your videos for a couple of months now and love watching you sketch and paint. I'm a retired engineer that loves all forms of art. Some months ago I decided to begin the process of learning the basics of watercolor - maybe one day I will, but for now the watercolor is teaching me that I know nothing. I wish great success and a happy life.

Titus, your videos are such a gem. Thanks for uploading them, the absence of music and the sound of you starting to wash the jars, etc... they makes me think of "what i should be doing". You are a good company to work. I have a hoodie like yours, stained with paint and with frayed sleeves. Some of you are the hidden masters of contemporaneity. Thanks for being an inspiration and not an entertainment.

Only lately that I have discovered your web site and your works. You have a wonderful style that impressed me and keep my ears on every thing you talked about. At 87 now, have been painting watercolor for over 30 years and this journey of mine sure fits in my schedule. Yes I have sold a few over the years , yet it has been a blessing for me. The one subject that happened 20 odd years ago when one of my paintings was drastickly changed or ruined from a customer who I discovered that it was exposed to direct sun light. Now I varnish all of them, which now I do not to matt and glass them. Looking forward to your paintings journey.

Your work has encouraged me to not shy away from the precision in detail whether it’s shadows, color, visions, or my thoughts. It’s allowing me to pour myself more freely into my work…. Which has been a goal of my expression. That is to say there’s a confidence surfacing with more awareness…which is very pleasing late in my career. So I’ve enjoyed watching you work in the studio as well as your traditional environments. There has always been a musical component in my life, because my father was a professional musician, who performed into his 90’s. There was a wide variety of experience in his classical performances as well as his favorite field of traditional jazz. A trumpet player who recorded with Earl ‘fatha’ Hines, and Lil’ Armstrong while touring in Chicago, (1960’s). (Living Legends of Chicago, a series of two albums). My iconic symbols in my deepest meditations were the Harmonica and the paint brush….. I will continue to watch and listen. Thank you. Satchitananda

The green red and blue nuances works so harmoniously together in this painting. But I thought it was perfect as it was after the dark refill. When he put in the light I was : ' no no o no' still beautiful but I was captured by that mellow feel.

Once in awhile I affix my watercolor painting straight to a sanded varnished or painting board with heavy gloss gesso. I carefully use weight and check to make sure that the dampness doesn’t go through and with the extra thick Arches wc paper it never does but more importantly the barrier prevents the acid from affecting the painting. Archival matte spray varnish with quick swipes lets it dry thoroughly. After it is dried I used Dorland’s soft wax and a cotton towel and rub it in the painting after it has been affixed and varnished. The ability to enjoy a watercolor without glass is just beautiful. Besides the new non yellowing archival varnish can be removed but there is no need. I like the matte or mix of mostly matte with a very tiny bit of satin. I have been doing some paintings this way for 9 yrs and mostly use oak. So much can be done with extended edges even scrolling into the wood next to the painting that I have not had the time to fully test designs but I think it would be so gorgeous. What do you think? You are welcome to try the idea by the way.😊

Hi Tim, I’ve been enjoying very much all of your videos. I paint in watercolor also. I am watching you finish up the marching band and I can’t get the process-technique of how you put down darker values and then lighter values on top. For example in the trousers of the man you do a darker blue color and the paint a light color; maybe orange or yellow over. This mystifies me. If you could elaborate I would appreciate it. Thank you, Barbara

Mirror: I tried to flip the pictures I do digitally, but it didn't work out for me. I lose contact to my subject when mirroring and it doesn't help to see more. But I'm not a good artist, only a graphic designer.
@em945
@em945 Жыл бұрын
Just my thoughts from what I have been taught... It can be great to 'lose contact with the subject'. This is so you can see it more as shapes and colours and really 'see' what is in front of you rather than what your brain is constructing inside as a 'thing'. If you see a dog, you may want to paint a dog, rather than the shapes and understructure of the dog. We had an excellent drawing, watercolour teacher in the Graphic design course I did, and he worked hard on teaching us to relearn the way we see. But Titus is so far above any thing I have ever seen being done In action! Good luck Hope things go well for you.
