Sonic R Seperates fans. Some fans love the game, others hate it. Fans loved it because of it's atmosphere. there was not a bit of anger or sadness in it, and T.J. Davis and Richard Jacques make a killer combo for the soundtrack. But other fans hate it, because the game itself was ridiculously broken (If you picked Super Sonic, there was no way you could lose unless you purposely screwed up, Sonic and Knuckles were the only competitive characters, Amy, Robotnik, and Tails were too slow and unenjoyable. and the game was so easy, you could complete it 100% in less than an hour with enough practice. Personally, I like the game, but I think sega could've done better...there's still time, they could make a second sonic R game for the Wii U or 360.

There needs to be a Sonic R sequel with TJ Davis doing the soundtrack again. To this day, it's still the only Sonic racing game that got the prospect right and didn't put him in some sort of vehicle. It just needs to have better controls and more stages to choose from. Make it happen, Sega! (And while you're at it, can we have a Space Channel 5: Part 3? I can just imagine Ulala riding through a city while dancing on top of a taxi.)

In defense of the newer games, the reason that sonic is in a is because it slows him down. The point is to make it a fair race, or sonic would win every cup before the rest of the players got halfway across the first map.
