I am a shoulder surgeon and have fixed a ton of shoulder dislocations. Trust me, it’s crazy for him to think he could win with his shoulder being that unstable. Even more crazy for him to sacrifice his health for that- every-time the shoulder comes out, the chances of severe arthritis goes up significantly. I will give him this; he is a warrior. Maybe not the smartest one…

He's a totally selfish and irresponsible man. He owed it to the fans and opponent to not fight if he wasn't planning on accepting a loss like a man and shutting up about the injury should he lose. He was obligated to inform the UFC, and he didn't. Shameful.

@@marcernest3165 nah you reading it wrong. TJ was creating a built in excuse for himself, but even he knew that. Tj is self aware enough to acknowledge that his built in excuse, was just an excuse. He didn’t wanna face the fact that he can’t fight anymore and Aljo will win no matter what. He’s saying he WANTED to use the shoulder as a built in excuse, but he now knows it doesn’t matter.

TJ is a warrior! I've dealt with over a dozen shoulder dislocations when I wrestled in HS and College then finally got surgery. I can't imagine fighting at that level with a dislocated shoulder. I have had both shoulders dislocate many times and everytime I reach up or behind my shoulders pop in and out and it's painful but always go back. I've been like this 13 years. My brother had rotator cuff surgery and regrets ever getting it and my brother in law got rotator cuff surgery like 2 years ago and is still incredibly messed up from it and he regrets it so much. Because of that I haven't gotten surgery, not to mention I can't take anesthesia because it will kill me I guess I don't know why it's something to do with my brain injury, the left half of my brain is dead and I needed 16.5 hour brain surgery 12 years ago after I fell 25 feet headfirst into a boulder saving someone.

what if the ufc knew about the shoulder and that’s the real reason why they banned fighters from betting…if you’re training with a fighter and his shoulder pops out 20+ times throughout camp it’s a pretty safe bet to bet on the other guy. maybe they heard about the injury but tj didn’t publicly come out with it so they couldn’t make him pull out and it opened their eyes to the possibility of coaches and training partners betting on the opposition when they know their fighter is injured before he steps into the cage

Stem Cell therapy needs to be approved here in the US. If TJ did the surgery and stem cells here he might have had a chance. Shoulder injuries are brutal and one of the worst to have because it can drive you nuts always trying to compensate with your other muscles and neck till everything get out of whack. If you dont find a good doctor and do the PT to the tee and stretch everyday for the rest of your life you wont fix the problem. Ive never met one person who's had multiple dislocations and healed their shoulder even with surgery.

After that octagon interview I was frustrated with dillashaw but after listening to him I understand his POV. I have to remind myself that these fighters have a mentality that most of us will never be able to identify with. I don't necessarily blame the ufc for being mad at him but I can't blame TJ for doing what he did either. However, he would have been infinitely better off had he just kept his mouth shut in the initial post fight interview.

If the fighters want to “provide for their families and nothing more”, then they should get a job that’s not in the sports and entertainment industry. You think the UFC, who pays them often large amounts of money, doesn’t expect them to perform effectively? They deserve nothing either? The only thing that matters is the fighter making money?
