@@sullman2365 I was gonna say American specifically but the impact and story of this is unmatched. Literally gave Oshie his nickname which still sticks with him. Incredibly re-watchable. The setting it was in as well. And the international shootout rules which was so different than what regular NHL watchers were used to. It was a pleasure to watch live.

I remember on the national news the following night, they said, “We’re going to end tonight’s broadcast by showing you the shootout between Team USA and Team Russia in its entirety in case you missed it.” My parents are not hockey fans, and they were riveted. The NHL is so foolish for not letting the players compete in the Olympic Games any longer. It’s the greatest 2-week advertisement for the sport of hockey you could ever hope for.

I had to give a speech on an American Hero for school. Everyone chose people like George Washington, MLK, etc. Who did I choose? TJ FUCKING OSHIE. And it was one badass speech, one that drew some impressive comments and appraisals. My teacher however, gave me a C. Never forgave him for that.

It's because our magical undefeated gold medal run was abruptly halted in the semi finals in a loss to Canada and then embarrassed further in a Bronze medal loss to Finland. Nobody wants to remember that. This game would be talked about so much if we won Gold that year. Jonathan Quick, Patrick Kane, Joe Pavelski, Ryan Miller, TJ Oshie, Phil Kessel, etc. That team was stacked and arguably better than the 2010 team (except maybe not having Brian Rafalski for 2014). It's unfortunate we didn't show up when it mattered.

Watching in Los Angeles, I already knew all about the greatness of Jonathan Quick. I met a new hockey great that day, T.J. Oshie. Multiple Stanley Cup winners and future Hall of Fame players in that highlight. Not a miracle. All grown men there.

My dad wasn't familiar with Oshie when we watched this, we hadn't seen much Western Conference NHL hockey, but man was he in awe of Oshie after that game. Course then he became a Capital and now my dad is indifferent towards him since we're Caniacs, but deep down he still likes Oshie a little because of 2014

I am a life long Washington Capitals fan. Even though I knew T.J. Oshie was with the St. Louis Blues, this was when I came to know and respect him as a player. I wished he was a Capital, then. I am so glad the Caps got him. He is a well deserved Stanley Cup Champion player!!!
