I recall an awesome ESPN story about the vetting process on recruiting guys for the USA team, and they ultimately picked Oshie for his shoot-out abilities. Pretty cool how it played out.

Crazy that oshie is as good as he is being so nonchalant. Like whit says there’s just guys in the league that aren’t invested in the game. They’re just really good at playing the sport.

When he came to the caps, I knew it was going to be magic. Send us all your struggling dynamic, offense-first players. We’ll make it work. We will also draft amazing offensive talents and then give them away for a bag of pucks. Go figure

@@TheChupacabra if Forsberg was still on the Caps in 2017 we wouldn’t have had the space to sign Oshie, who was an integral part of the 2018 cup win, so great move im my books

@@nollieflipcrook great move? for one Martin Erat? With the low rate of picks that pan out, wouldve looked a lot wiser if we would’ve gotten two second round picks back for him.

RA questioning using Datsyuk. The man was a God in shootouts. Lightly touches the puck and instantly roofs it.

was wondering that myself. kovalchuk has silky mitts but come on, datsyuk's nickname is "the magic man" for a reason and has a legendary shootout deke named after him

I was able to enjoy that shootout after Canada eliminated them in the semi-finals. What a dominant defensive effort against a team that had (up to that point) exactly 5 goals per game!

@@BigDaddy-vq5ks it’s only been as long as the last major tournament… We won the last World Cup and the last two olympics. And our roster would’ve walked to the gold medal if nhl’ers were going this year. So… What’chu talkin’ about? Childrens hockey? Nobody cares

@@benlee7864 if you think 1920 was the greatest hockey moment, you simply don't know hockey history. If you really want to brag abut US hockey, 1994 should have been it, but your complete lack of knowledge on the sport makes you over look it. And I really don't think going back 42 years for your closest example of the success of the program is a winning move. My comment was the fact that in 2014, you know, the event they were talking about, the US didn't win Gold, or any medal at all
@jamesblair3722
@jamesblair3722 2 жыл бұрын
@@BigDaddy-vq5ks Umm, they won in 2020, which if you are really this stupid, was the last time the event was held to completion. So as of today, they are the reigning WJC Champs. They also won the last Olympics the tournament mattered (2014). Not to mention, winning the World Cup in 2016. The last 3 major international championships have all been won by Canada. Facts matter, just not to Liberals

Again . This shootout is really not that “legendary” at all IMO . It certainly would of been if the Americans won the tournament but they went home with NOTHING . Very impressive moment for sure which Jonathan Toews is only other player to replicate this in the world juniors in 2006 .
