I watched several fork seal replacement videos. I have a VLX600. First time I’ve seen any mention of the tool that goes inside the fork tube to remove the bolt at the bottom of the fork. Calm, precise, and knowledgeable… makes me trust you, so I’ll order the kit, that includes the tool, from your website. 👍

the fork spacer you installed seems to be the close to the exact length of the stock fork spacers. since you installed 6over tubes don’t you need to have a fork spacer that is 6 inches over the stock spacer in order to get the proper preload on the spring and similar rebound and compression as stock?

I got around that by putting my forks back in the triple tree, with the springs still inside and caps on, letting the triple tree hold the fork as i removed the bottom bolt in the dampener. The spring holds everything inside under pressure so the bolt has something to be removed from otherwise it just turns everything in there.

I had to playback a few minutes from the end of this video because I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the final assembly of the fork tube - Did anyone else notice the fact that he was able to just screw on the fork tube cap without having to fight compressing the spring extension ? That spring spacer was too short for the extended length of the fork tube ! Any time you get extended fork tubes you get the corresponding fork tube extension or make one to compensate for the added length of the tube - without having the proper spacer there's no pre-load on the spring ! That's why he was able to just push up the lower leg effortlessly with his hand because there was no tension on that spring at all when he was putting the axle shaft through the wheel ! Those fork tubes are probably bottomed out in the fork leg with the lower rebound spring on the damper just bouncing around inside the fork tube. He even cautioned viewers that there's gonna be tension from the spring when you take the fork tube cap off ! This guy builds bikes and it didn't even dawn on him that something ain't right when you can just screw the cap on an assembled fork tube - I've had to fight with hundreds of fork tubes, stock ,shortened and extended off the bike and anyone that has done it know's the tube is always gonna creep down into the leg so you have to hold the tube up with on hand while pushing the spring and cap down and twist them together while your hands are oil soaked and hope you caught enough threads so it holds long enough to put a wrench on it to tighten it down before the cap fly's off and goes sailing across the garage ! If this guy builds bikes like this I'd be pretty hesitant on riding those bikes.
