What you touched on and others have commented on cover the basics of E85 pretty well. The only thing I will touch on is the VAST resources we have to make it. It is indeed a renewable fuel source as it is made from plants. Sugarcane/Corn are the 2 main ones and some companies were looking at seaweed (earth's largest supply of plant life). Currently we receive less MPG with E85. But if isobutanol (something that can be further refined from Ethanol) makes it's way into the market in the future, we will get the MPG back and still have a lot of the power/cooling gains. This brings forth the next MAJOR advantage to E85; it's cooling capabilities. It only has a relative octane rating of 105, but with it's cooling capabilities it actually acts more like a 110+ octane level. You don't see much advantage to this in NA engines except in racing applications, but once forced induction is thrown into the mix the gains are massive. Not only do you get a higher octane for more boost/timing (aka: higher knock threshold), but it also cools the charge once atomized in the combustion chamber AND cools the metals it comes into contact with. Throw in the little freebie of it cleaning the valves and combustion chamber and you have an overall engine enhancing modification on your hands. A station is opening up close to me soon and I too will be doing the Delicious FlexFuel setup.

Make sure to use a micro fiber towel with quick detailer or spray wax. Those Rags and just using water wiping your car off will scratch it.

It doesn't cool faster, it doesn't burn as hot as regular gasoline (off the top of my head I think 50,000 BTU's cooler). Have to use more fuel to make power. Higher octane prevents detonation so you can make more power. Bad: it's very corrosive and can eat seals, especially if it sits.

You forgot one of the worst downsides of E85. It burns too cleanly and can cause bad ware to your internals because of the lack of lubrication.

I know this video is old. But keep in mind that that E85 kit doesn't have a CARB exemption. Also keep in mind, in socal a LOT of cops can be found on their days off at track days or instructing at them. What I'm getting at is a ton of cops are car guys. So if you were to get pulled over, they could ticket you for that, just for bringing it up. Depending on what city ordinances are (avoid ontario like it has super contagious herpes and aids. they have an ordinance that allows them to take your car to the crusher without having to wait for a court date. old law in place since the fast and furious days in the early 2000's) it could have severe consequences. point being. take off the badge, park at the back of the lot and walk. no consequences, and you get a little more excersize.

if its not oem equipped it does not qualify since it will not pass the state emission test running as such. even though like my evo runs cleaner then the 91. it still fails since its not covered under the manufacturer license. if it came down to an official ticket you would loose in court. we have tried many times in CA to run emission tests for cars (EVOS) because we are cleaner running on the e80, but they wont have any of it, it comes down to what laws and your where you car operates for emissions. even in court in the face of proof its a manufacturer legal issue. also you can get a bluetooth sensor and run bluflex app (android only) on your phone and see your real time E content and fuel temps. ive never seen E85% its mostly 77%-82% in CA at least. any car can run e85, but the problem lies in the alcohol its a solvent so it destroys oil, and oil based rubbers and plastics that are not made to resist the corrosion over time. e85 fuel pumps and fuel lines are a must. and its a good idea to change your oil more often.

The manufacturers have to do their emissions thing for E85 the same as they do for gasoline to make them legal for sale in the US, so they're spending twice the money to do so per vehicle to federalize them. Kinda sucks though, I think every gasoline car should be flex fuel, even the ones that are supposed to be set up to be bi-fuel and run Gasoline and Compressed Natural Gas (thus making it tri-fuel, I guess) so there are more options as to what a car can be run on without buying specific like you would with a gas or diesel only vehicle.
