This song was one generation's precursor to the problems of a stale and military -industrial complex society. To this date, WE, THE PEOPLE ARE NOT FREE. As Marilyn Manson says in Mobscene, "Freedom is not free at all; the oppression is great." Note: I was a political blogger, 7 years...successful. Twitter cut my site 7 times. As well as Facebook, and my dead Son's Facebook. We, the People exist in a machine.

In these strange times that we are all living through right this moment, it is so refreshing to listen to the lyrics of Crystal Blue Persuasion! In 1969, I was 23, it was the height of the Viet Nam War and our country was in turmoil, how I miss those days of firsts, mini dresses, go go boots, free love, and so much more! Don't really think how lucky we all were at that time, to be free and want to do as we wanted, it clearly changed the way this country made decisions and how we thought, it opened us all up, maybe even more so for those that were tripping on acid, but never the less we all got thru it, and if you listen to the lyrics of this song, we can all have hope that we will get out of this cloud that we are all under! This song is one of the best ever made and we should all take these lytics to heart....God Bless us all!

I feel first to pray to our Divine Heavenly Father to be able to "Share Freely' to all brothers and sisters who also might be asking in heartfelt prayer, why there is all this hate and prejudice throughout the world and what is it that those so-called geniuses and religious scholars could not have thought to come up with some honest to goodness True Understanding of what our Divine Heavenly Father had His Beloved Son Jesus Christ sent here on His beautiful livable planet to say that our True Most Merciful Creator God had created those magnificent beautiful other families of the living sea, air, and land creatures 🐮🐷🐔🐣🐓🐃🐄🐖🐖🐑🐑🦃🦃🦌🦌🐇🐇🐳🐟🦞🦞🐝🐝to also live free and in a peaceful harmonious way with the one other beautiful families on this magnificent beautiful livable planet, and not to be bought and sold with their deceived stolen stamped PAPER currencies and dangerously blasted ROCK to be minted into metal coins. And, so my brothers and sisters believe it when I tell you that when you come to really make that changed to want to be healed and forgiven by our Divine Merciful Heavenly Father, He will then open up your eyes, hearts, and minds to want to stay eating the fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts, and this is what all those bible scholars had taught programmed every brother and sister ever since those not yet born again Christians to then watch them act out some ritual that was to think you would be receiving some Divine Miracle of Healing or Forgiveness for all the unclean acts we were doing. And so it is when a brother or sister might say that the one most important things for every sister and brother to really realize is that our Heavenly Father has truly brought to us here in this country and at this time for all to take all you possibly can to pray to stay doing the True Healing act of Love for All Gods' male and female creatures to simply try and share to all that they are not to be bought or eating, and the more we can educate our Good Shepherds Honest to Goodness Truth to eventually bring more to see a definit evolution and a Real Healing from our Holy Fathers Merciful Forgiveness and His True Blessed Peaceful Solution for all brothers and sisters and to also come to understand that we were born into a evil corrupt system so we need to also bring up something our hearts need to feel and it's about the True data & stats of how many newborn deformities and diseases that never get brought to every brother and sisters full attention, and it seems like so much of what one who is now sincerely seeking and truly wanting our Holy Fathers Revalation can type their questions and be able to find out how so much of our histories of the ways mankinds stubborn egotist sickness and unrightous ways just seem to not have any better solution to be closer to the True Wisdom of what Blessing our Merciful and Forgiving Holy Father has for all those who have come to taken to doing an honest to our Divine Creator Gods Commandments. So we must also believe we have the Greatest of our Holy Fathers Gift of the Holy Spirit to go forth and freely get out to share all that what Christ Jesus had taught us to do that and He would be with us always, and we continue giving all Praise for His Glorious Gifts of The Spirit Amen.

I was 8 years old when this came out in 1969. Attending summer day camp in Tarrytown, NY this played literally every day on radio of the yellow mini school bus (i.e. maxi van) that shuttled my brother and I to/from the camp. As with the bus to/from school during the school year, the songs that played on the radio are ingrained forever in my memory. Back then, even the AM radio played classic stuff like this, Stephen Stills 'Love the one your with', Harry Nilsson's 'Without you', the Tokens 'Lion sleeps tonight', etc. Man, the music of today just pales by comparison. Even my 10 year old son, who has been playing guitar since he was 6, can't stand to even hear 95% of what is played on the radio. How lucky our generation was to have grown up with such music.

Wow!!! How I LOVED listening to this rhythmically beautiful song back in the day....and behold 50 years later ...the words, imagery and content still relevant in today's world (2020) gives credence to the words; the more things change, the more they remain the same! Namaste

may be for the rich spoiled kids that became the hippies but for everybody else if you were lucky enough if you were not fighting the war in vietnam it is was business as usual. Nostalgia can be a weird thing.

@@chais1111 Unlike today, the US economy was still solvent in the 60s, the debt threshhold hadn't yet spiralled out of control. Wages and salaries still kept good pace with the cost of living. Jobs were plentiful in most areas, and most manufacturing still happened here in the US. The stagflation and oil crises of the 70s hadn't yet hit. There was no war against petroleum fuel, no critical race theory or transgender insanity in schools. I could go on and on. There's much to recommend the 60s over today -- just maybe not for the same reasons as the OP.

He was inspired by his reading of the book of Ezekiel where it speaks of the Blue Shekinah Light which represented the presence of the Almighty God and the Books of Isaiah and Revelation where it speaks of a bright future of a brotherhood of mankind living in peace and harmony.

Such a great song! So well ahead of it's time and so relevant today. We could all learn something from this. I wish we could all stop looking at one another as a color or race, and see all of our brothers and sisters as human beings.
