I know it wasn't brought up here, but with the Samson reference, I wanted to bring up the Samson's Hair item you get for beating Scud in the tournament. This was another localization change, and an additional reference added in by Honeywood. The original just called it the 武器千力 (lit. a thousand weapons). While this isn't canon by the JP script, this implies Scud was the one who beat him in the Tournament.

With Kenren and Tenpou, they are actually a reference to Journey to the West, which makes sense considering how aspects of Krelian's character derive from Sun Wukong.

Sargassum and seaweed in general technically aren't plants, but protists. Protists are eukaryotic organisms defined by just not being plants, animals, or fungi. Man I'm so happy I got to "um aCtUaLlY" one of these videos in the most pedantic of ways. These vids rule. Keep up the good work!

if Elridge were analog to monolith soft, you could say everything since xenosaga to xenochronicles is the miang factor trying to recreate deus over and over, until soraya and takahashi make Contact with the IP Existence (xenogears) traped in the zohar enix after 10,000 years

You referenced Krelian's connection to Arthur C Clark's Childhood's end but Midori (maybe prim) also may have a connection. Midori's clairvoyance abilities.

The one puzzle in the Soylent System can be solved via Boolean Algebra. While this is above the pay grade of most players it is a neat reference to George Boole and the basics of modern computing.

I wasn't sure where to add this comment because I forget when it happens but I think the spaceship from the opening landing on an island vertically is a reference to Future Boy Conan. A rocket lands in a similar way on an island with some of the survivors of an apocalypse that happened on Earth. And I think Emerelda is sort of inspired by Astroboy. Just with nanomachines. And maybe her Gears is based on the armless statue of Venus?

there’s another interpretation of Citan / Shitan’s name which is 紫檀 (rosewood) specifically referring to rosewood altars typically found in the home. i’m not sure how this is relevant to Shitan’s character though ; the Satan interpretation is something i thought about too but ultimately thought it might be too on the nose with the betrayal / deception plot point 😅

Don't think their is a connection for Medena tbh. It is city that the prophet migrated with his followers and its the first muslim city, he was born in Mecca his dad died when his mother Anima was pregnant and became an orphan at the age of 6. He started to spread word about Islam but after a while had to flee because a stronger tribe Qurash was threatening them. He and his followers left, also his uncle was with them and went to Medena. Might mean somethin if we know more about Medena but we dont know much about her.
