How were fans in the west able to get in contact with her. That's so terrible and uncalled for @22:16 As for Xenosaga 2 lol it's really sad it becomes fun (in my opinion) very late in the game. Ether burst, stock (as a ether) boost (as a ether) overload are extremely useful. Overall the music was a bit over the top. However I loved the battle music. The speed is insanely slow to the point. Doing Gs campaigns literally sucked the soul out of me. It took 18 years for me to 100% Xenosaga 2. A fast forward feature would be appreciated. Leveling Shion solo to 99 in the dammerung. Was needed since this game is so strict. Es having its own levels caught me off guard. X2 is extremely unforgivably grindy. The character battles are fun but at the beginning. It's insanely slow paced, and you have to stock. I leveled my Jr, Ziggy, Momo & Chaos to 40. During the Miltia escape scenario, a place the player can't strangely go back to!? (Via Umn) And enemies were still strong. The break system is extremely strict when it comes to bosses. The quality compared to episode 1 broke my heart. I did love the new character Jin. He is so smooth and has a calm demeanor. I do think they did a good job with the story. The final boss is a extremely sexy stud muffin. But yeah episode 2 was the only one to stress me out for long hours lol.

16:49 To clear this up for anyone wondering bc it isn't immediately as obvious as some of the other transliterations, Kelvena was how Honeywood chose to transliterate her name from Japanese, which is kerubina (Cherubina is another good transliteration and would've been way more accurate to the reference of course).

Heard somewhere that Hammer was named after one of the devs? Hamasaka, guy who created his design and personality. Something about a nickname of Hamasaka's around the office being "Hamaa"? idk if these kinds of references are being included in this list or not.

My issue with Ys IX is it took way too much from the Trails series... Most of the dialog is too wordy and filler, and every damn NPC that joins seems like they end up owing everything good that's happened to them to Adol (same happens with Rean in the Trails series), and it feels so tired by the end of it. Gameplay? Love it. Story? Good. Just stop making Adol the center of everyone's lives.

I think CS III is better than IV, personally. The hype of the new class VII and Arianrhod at the prologue is always amazing even how many times I see it. And many more revelation at the climax like the shooting of the king (god I love the shooter VA). And dont forget the ultimate cliffhanger ending. So my top five probably 1. Azure 2. SC 3. CS III 4. Daybreak 5. Zero

holy shit the xenosaga guy from that one resonant arc episode plays trails. very based. the fact that the two are massive jrpg nerds and I've not once heard them mention kiseki has mildly annoyed me forever. cool vid. subscribed.

This may be a really weird tangent on an Illusion of Gaia video, but I think you're treating the Star Wars prequels unfairly. The romance between Anakin and Padme being awkward and stilted is in my opinion intentional, or if it isn't, it could as well be. I don't know if George Lucas can write romance well, but it also doesn't matter, because the story of Anakin and Padme isn't a love story. It's a story about a woman falling in love with her future murderer, in a relationship that is somewhere between ill-matched and downright creepy from the very beginning. From Anakin's side, the feelings involved are not so much genuine love as obsession and possessiveness. Furthermore, both have been raised in very strict, formal environments, in Anakin's case even a monastic order where romance is outright taboo. Of course their romantic interaction with one another is going to be stilted. Whether Lucas could write a better romance or not is beside the point, because their relationship _shouldn't_ be written as a better romance. It would both be diegetically inconsistent and undermine the themes of their story.

The ideas of gnosticism existed before Christianity, but when Christianity happened, the primary gnostic movements... basically "appropriated" (if that's the right word for it) certain names to their previously-formed creation myth, later rewritten to include them. If I'm not mistaken, this is what results in most of the confusion about and conflation of gnostic/Christian terminology, including how said terms were utilized in Xeno and other JRPGs. (Also, you mentioned the bit where they changed the serpent from The Accuser to a force with good intentions. Insert joke about villains revealing their plan in the first act.)
Its also interesting to see the long game(?) in how alot of ideas end up having implications for xenoblade down the line, especially in regards to the deus system with Omega(Deus) and Alpha(Zohar). Like just with the similar concepts with Alvis in Xenoblade, being called Alpha, and his relationship to the zohar and its version if Kadonomy(trinity processing system), him taking the form of a wave existence, him looking visually simliar to chaos from xenosaga whom is the embodiment of Anima, and with the zohar being made up of a Anima and Animus (male/female) then it also gives a rationale as to why there is a male and female version of Alpha. That and just Alpha assuming a form similar to that of Deus what with the red and blue eye patterns and marble statue faces similar to that of deus's beta designs. Also you have of course gnostic naming in Xenoblade 1 with Yaldabaouth and the Apocrypha generator, plus Zanza also being that of Deus in him acting as a Demiurge creating humans, but hes not the true god (Monado being based on Monad)

It's been awhile since I saw your last video so you might have mentioned this but Fei in carbon freezing is a reference to Han Solo frozen in carbonite in Star Wars and Shevat resembles Cloud City from the external shots. And the Zohar's eye evokes the Eye of Providence.

That reading of "You shall be as gods" is one I hadn't considered, I always saw it as a reminder of humanity's hubris, instilled into Deus. On that topic, I didn't know the Seraph angels were called Aeons in japanese, that's super cool, especially considering they should be called archons if anything like you pointed out.

lol, I dunno why I felt compelled to say _"I like Xenosaga, but only as a friend"_ during your closing 🤣 But yeah, I don't consider myself a big fan despite owning the trilogy, a postcard booklet and watching the entire anime (which tbh, disappointed me), I did appreciate the whole experience and don't regret playing these games. I'm on the Shion hate bandwagon tho, I feel she checks a lot of the Mary Sue symptoms (i.e. tragic past, little to no people hate her, has unexplained and powerful abilities, no one really understand her, is incredibly smart but at the same time naive, she's also beautiful, etc), and tbh she lost what little respect I had for her when she joined Kevin, and Allen beating the gnosis made me burst in laughter. Jin's demise did break my heart tho. Another funny thing that I enjoyed was when KOS-MOS merged with T-elos and she now felt so concerned for her teammates, her victory line _"is everyone okay?"_ at the end of every battle made me giggle, yes, the same KOS-MOS who'd shoot through you if you were irrelevant enough was now racing to kiss your boo-boos and ouchies, glad she reverted back at the end 🤣 Anyway, great video series, I'll check if you've made one of Xenoblade series, which I know nothing about, a friend once asked me why I wouldn't play them if I was a fan of Xenosaga and I told him something like _"why? So my heart gets broken again by an unfinished series?"_ lol

It's sad these videos aren't getting more likes, I'm really enjoying them! Anyway, I remember when I played this, I was so fed up with the awful character designs, awful combat system, the weird focus on Junior (I honestly always thought KOS-MOS was supposed to be the main character, like, she's the face of the friggin' game!), the ridiculous voice acting, after this, I didn't wanna play Episode 3 at all, especially NOT for $50 bucks, but then I started seeing it getting cleared from store shelves, and I think I managed to find it in a Walmart at $40 bucks, and decided to get it while I still could, and I was so happy I did!
@610HobbiesАй бұрын
I'm really lucky I was able to get the whole trilogy just at the end of the PS2's shelf life, and I even got 'em separately, I bought episode 1 for $20 bucks, shortly after I bought my first PS2 (Slim), then I bought episode 2 for that same price, it was incredibly disappointing that I almost didn't buy episode 3, but got that one at $40 bucks though, and it was worth it to see the conclusion if anything. I still have the games, only played them once, JRPGs have stopped being my cup of tea for a while, I don't have a PS2 anymore either since I went through 2 of them in my life, I dunno if I should sell them or not, I personally don't consider myself a collector and I feel they could be in better hands that appreciate them more and preserve them better, though I don't trust many people online, I've been scammed even on eBay when selling random stuff.

The magic is mostly just useful in specific situations where you can fire on enemies from far away... that said, the first two spells are very much the most often useful. Also, that soundtrack slaps. The wild thing is that the songs are so different, but the instruments used to make them are so much the same. Ugh, I wish i could experience it for the first time again! Thank you for posting this!

I played through these with my friend over the last few months, and while Xsaga didn't strike me quite on the same level as gears and blade games, it was still amazing time. We also ended the playthrough with the anime and I must say, it amazes me how poorly people think of it. Concise version of the story was great imo, I especially loved having more Virgil and Kirsch added some emotional value the first game lacked In any case, there's videos were great, thank you!
