Another masterclass. In my own workflow, when painting through a mask (typically dodge & burn), I often save the selection as a channel so I can quickly get back to it if I want to do more touch-up later.

Thanks Dave. Between you and me, TK panel has sooooo many variables that it sometimes overwhelms me 😊. Don't misunderstand me, it's great. It is just that my life has only 24/7 (laugh!!!). I need another life to cover everything. By the way, this Friday video using levels and the adjust layer mask has been AWESOME !!!

Great job Dave! I upgraded my MacBook Pro to the newer M1 chip and reloaded Photoshop and the TK8 panel, and now everything is blazing fast. The edits are much easier for me with no beach ball; no lag at all. The difference is night and day! Now I'm revisiting your other tutorials to apply the techniques with this newer machine and it's amazing. Thanks again Dave.

Dave, your mind is so brilliant, it actually shone a little into my dim one. Today I followed along using a blah photo of a fern in the woods and transformed it into something very cool. Thank you.

Very nice work indeed. I’m a huge fan of the increase contrast mode in the curves/levels adjustment layer and using the screen/mode to adjust lights & darks. However, I tend to paint the adjustment through a selection but I am very impressed with the method you demonstrate today - letting the mask ‘take the strain’. I have also found using the increase contrast mode, together with a edge mask on the layer, is excellent for targeting edge detail. Thank you Dave… your tutorials are invaluable.

Thank you so much Dave for all these great videos. I’ve been trying to learn how to use the TK tools for years but I could never wrap my head around it fully until I started watching your videos. I look forward to TK Friday like I am looking forward to the newest episode of a really hot TV show. Please keep them coming. You have reinitiated my passion for editing photos using sophisticated tools like this one. If I may suggest just one thing, sometimes it would be great if you can zoom into the section of the photo you are working on because even when I am watching it on a very large TV, it is sometimes hard to follow. Once again, thank you very much for all your amazing videos.

Your great videos make me appreciate the strength of the TK8 panel for my post processing requirements. Would you say that the techniques in this video are more for enhancing finished images and that the use of your color grading technique is for the initial image edits although not a hard and fast rule?
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter. The first part where I used the Luminosity Masks for Shadows, Mid Tones and Highlights was but all of the techniques can be used on any type of processing. You could definitely substitute the Color Grading Tool for the Multiply and Screen. The Multiply and Screen are great for general Lightening and Darkening. But when you need to incorporate altering coloring and contrast the Color Grading Tool works wonderfully.

Thanks so much David for your TK8 Videos. Without them I would be totally lost. I have a question. Is there a way to use TK8 to add structure or texture to specifically masked areas.?
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly2 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. Yes you can. There is a Clarity Action in the TK8 Combo or CX panel and you can combine a mask to it. You can also use the Texture and Clarity adjustments by using the Camera Raw Filter and apply a mask to that. On top of that you can use third party plugins like Topaz Studio 2, Luminar Neo/Ai or On1 and apply masks to those as well.
@harveyshandler8062 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave. Perhaps in a future video you can show us how that would work
