Special Note: Do not run these actions from your TK9 My Actions Panels, as they won't work. Instead, run them directly from Photoshop Actions. In this video, I'll be using Photoshop Action's Button Mode. You can access Button Mode by clicking on the Photoshop Actions Flyout Menu and selecting Button Mode.

Hi Dave, Thank you very much and your video has fulfilled a wish. It‘s very helpful and I‘d love to hear more about of the other actions. The new Luminosity Courses of Sean I can warmly recommend too. I‘v purchased it a week ago and this step by step is great for more understanding, what is going on every TK Friday. Tony, You, Sean and David, for me, it's like a university, the TK University. 👍👏 Wish you and all users a nice weekend. Greetings Daniel, Berlin.

Dave, thanks for featuring the actions. Also thank you for all the techniques that you have shown in your TK videos, saved me a lot of effort in trying to come up ideas for actions to test out the new features while beta testing TK9 V3 for Tony. By the way the B and C General works well with the Intersect actions, so could run Tight Landscape, run B and C General then intersect Foreground, another B and C General and Intersect Sky. I'l leave it as an exercise to the readers to put these steps into their own action!
@danielchaskel2838Ай бұрын
Hi David, thank you for your advice, it works very well. 😀 Because it's my first action I named it "Setting up for success" in following Dave.😃 I have added to the Tight, Generals, Intersects further the Midtown Contrast, Midtown Lighten, Lift Warm, Drop Cool, Drop Saturated, Lift Unsaturated and the Zone Color Grading. This is always the standards and the first steps in my editing. I read in your PDF Close Panel as the first step is helpful to secure a clear starting point. Wow, I love it, actions and the whole magic of TK9. 👍
@steveshawl3094Ай бұрын
I've already used them and find them handy!! I do have one worry, though. In using them, and I suppose one could argue the same in using the TK panels, one is getting further and further away from actually knowing Photoshop!! That is, I'm not sure I could do what I do with the panel WITHOUT using the panel! I could not use someone else's computer that does not have TK9 to develop an image! That said, I suppose all that matters is the final result, and the TK panel sure helps with that!! Thank you Tony, Dave, and now Dave Tillett!
@ralphmastrangelo4306Ай бұрын
Hi Dave! This is another fantastic tutorial in a long line of fantastic tutorials! I would love to see Part 2 in which you demonstrate the rest of David Tillett's actions. In the meantime, I have a question regarding Balance and Contrast. What do you think about desaturating the layer first before the B and C so that color doesn't get in the way?
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekellyАй бұрын
Thanks Ralph, for me I like the bit of a saturation boost I get when I do the initial balance and contrast.

Nice overview Dave. Thank you! By the way, can you protect both the darkest darks and the brightest lights at the same time using TK blend if?

In Edit Blend If there are now two options that protect both lights and darks - the middle buttons that have both white and black in their icons.

Thanks Dave, yet another good tutorial. Sadly, updating to PSCC v26.0 stopped these actions from working. Since there were other issues with it, I've reverted to the older version.
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekellyАй бұрын
Sorry to hear that. Dave please reach out to Tony Kuyper to see if he can help you to figure out what is going wrong.
@datstheone1Ай бұрын
That is strange. They work for me on both 26.0 and the latest 26.1 beta. Can you send me details via the contact link in the PDF and I will have a look, though given you are having other problems I wonder if there is a more general issue with your Photoshop installation.
@davestokes3446Ай бұрын
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Thanks. I eventually resolved the problem. I reinstalled PSCC several times until it eventually worked. I realised after the first reinstall that there was something erratic going on and so just kept annoying PSCC until it gave in?!?
@davestokes3446Ай бұрын
@@datstheone1 Thanks, see my reply to Dave; it's working now but I think it's probably an issue with my computer.
@datstheone1Ай бұрын
@@davestokes3446 Glad that is fixed. My first interaction with Tony was investigating strange behaviour with TK8. Turned out that the installation of Photoshop on a new computer had created correct folders but not updated permissions for these.

Hey Dave, question on the Alpha Channels. I never see you delete alpha channels when you are finished editing an image. Do you keep your Alpha Channels with your Master File or do you delete them to save file space? Any thoughts on this? Thanks Mario
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekellyАй бұрын
Mario, I save them with the master file just in case I want to revisit and ensure I'm happy with the edit. Once I'm satisfied, I should delete them, but I often forget to do so.

Hey Dave, how do you get your Combo panel to lock in under the Multi Mask panel? Mine just sits there and if I minimise PS, it leaves the Combo panel on the screen! Thanks in advance.
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekellyАй бұрын
Hey Steve, click the top of the Combo Panel and drag it to the bottom of the panel where you want to place it. Hover until you see a horizontal colored line (probably blue), then release your mouse click to dock it.
@stevemckenzie4731Ай бұрын
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Dave, I've docked plenty of panels before and know the drill but the Multi Mask panel (latest version) won't accept another panel ... there's no 'border' at the bottom (like say, the Combo panel or My Actions panel) for another panel to lock on to. I don't recall this being the case with the previous version. I might reach out to Tony ...

What are the My TK9 Actions?
@datstheone1Ай бұрын
Replied before but not seeing it so trying again. The My TK9 Actions are described at the end of the Example Actions documentation. The action set contains a set of actions that call all the actions from the TK9 Actions and TK9 Blend If Actions and most of the standard TK actions from Cx/Combo. Some users follow Dave's example and keep the TK actions part of Cx/Combo permanently open for quick access, but don't necessarily use all the actions. With the Photoshop limitation that means that actions that include TK9 button clicks cannot be run from a TK My Actions tab but have to use standard Actions Panel I include the My TK9 Actions action set as a sort of work around. This, or a copy of it, can be reorganised to include your favourite standard Cx/Combo actions and actions that include TK9 button clicks and then put in workspace in same location as previously used for the Cx/Combo actions. It is not essential for the use of the example actions but included as might be of use to some people. I used this technique to allow me to keep the standard TK9 example action sets separate from any experimental work, so changes to the standard sets were made in controlled manner. Contact me via the link in the PDF if you want to know more.

I've viewed this video and "added" the files from the download into "My Actions", but I cannot get any of these to play. What am I doing wrong?
@thejoyofeditingwithdavekellyАй бұрын
You cannot run Photoshop Actions made with TK9 Button clicks from theTK9 My Actions panels because they won't work. I have mentioned that in several TK Friday videos (this is a Photoshop issue and not TK9). You must run them from Photoshop Actions Only. I made a note about that in the Video's description. I'll pin that note in the comments.

Thanks for this videoagain, I really love your contact and watch it regulary. Thanks also to David and the link to his support. Contacting Tony Kuyper makes no sense, he is not answering anyway (I tried several times) , which I personally find very disappointing and annoying after I bought so many products from him.
@datstheone1Ай бұрын
Strange that Tony has not responded he is normally very good at this, and has included me in several recent problem investigations from users. There was another user who complained that they did not get a response, turned out that they had made a typo when putting email address in contact form, so Tony's reply went to unknown address. Contact me via the PDF and I will send email on to Tony.

Someone has discovered that the Tight Landscape and Tight Subject actions don't work if TK9 is set to language other than English, I missed that these use the name "Active Selection" which is translated when using other languages. I have created a new version of the TK9 Actions Non-English action set that has language specific versions of these two actions, contact me if you want a copy of this.
