These foster moms are so amazing! There is no argument in the world that could convince me that Maggs didn't know her foster baby was being re-released after surgery and came to wait for Teft! That shows you the level of love, and dedication these primates have for each other!!!!!

Maggs got her baby back….she could not run into trees fast enough and sweet Teft latched onto her tummy and wrapped his tail around her….. You would never know they were not “blood born” mother & son. That is solely because of the hard work you all do…… Thank-you all for what you do!!!❤❤❤

I hadn’t realized how wee Anita is until I saw her with TK😮 Nice for her to have a big sis. I love how yearling Teft got a ride on Mum’s tummy back into the troop… with no dilly-dallying, like she wasn’t taking any chances of him going away again 💕

In watching the little Vervet’s arrival I was amazed by the similar facial movements,( but different vocalizations ,) I observed between it and Macaque babies. Both species open their mouths wide to scream and then purse their lips to an oval shape for a hooting noise. It’s just interesting expressions that I observed in both infants.

Amazing how much care you take of all these monkeys. We like to think they are better off in the wild and in general it’s true but in the wild Teft’s future would not have been so bright. He is lucky 😀

It’d be amazing to see if in another 10-20 years, if some of these orphans who meet each other as babies, form somewhat of a bond, and then are released into different troops, would recognize each other as adults, and maybe the rest of the troop tolerates the other because a few members know each other from the other one. I know it’s not normal in the wild for two troops to tolerate each other, but it would be interesting to see if there’s more tolerance depending on the circumstances. After all, most of these monkeys in all the troops at VF are orphans, abandoned pets, or monkeys so badly injured that their wild troop realized that they couldn’t do anything for them, so just left them.
