Interesting approach. I like to emulate comic / mangá patterns on my shadings. In Krita, the software I use, it comes as a brush or a pattern. Great job and thank you for sharing.

I would love to see more Photoshop tutorials! For me, I can do quite a bit, but I am still a beginner and some of things i saw you do I wished you would go more in depth. Maybe it's too elementary to do a video, but I would like to know more about the masking, what goes into each layer, and more about how you isolated your gradients. I have tried looking this stuff up, but you have to sift through a lot in order to find what you are actually looking for. You know? Loved the video and will definitely be trying this out! Thanx!

Yeah I noticed that there wasn't much information on this. So could you give me more information on what kind of question you're asking about?

Well I think the main question I had was that do you just press Ctrl+C and then undo until the original non bitmap drawing comes up and paste the bitmap drawing that you copied onto any layer, right? That way you'll still be able to edit the layers?

@@prodmaceaudio yes and either set I to multiply above the line art, or put it under the line art layer and set that to multiply

This worked out great! I just wish I knew a way to preview the bitmap before applying it so I could adjust to the size and frequency I want. Any suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions just that over time I'm used to what size works. Try making a library of different sizes so young just grab them and also print them out so you know what the final print will be

I don't know how to do that, I just download it. If you have the most recent photoshop then you should be able to download the kyle manga and halftone brushes

Nice video but I wish you had been more concise about one single way of doing screen-tone. I am quite experienced in photoshop and even I got lost at some point. I found most useful the very last part of the video.

How do you spot blacks on chracters?

thats a mix of style preference. if you look at CLAMPS original Card Captures Sakura vs XXXHolic you'll see its a style choice. Usually Girl comics go lighter, Boy and women comics are balanced and men's comics tend to have a lot more black.

Not sure what you're asking? Are you trying to gradient on the selected area or making a gradient selection?

If you draw dark enough it will scan, just scan in greyscale and ckean it up

its a bit of trail and error. If you know masking layer, use the brush tool with air brush or texutred and set the blend to 'disolve'
