Hi Andrew! I recommend adding a piece of sub-flooring in the threshold of the door into the attic. Aesthetically, it would be more pleasing to the eye and give a place to secure the flooring(carpet, tile, vinyl, etc) too, under the attic door. Then add a metal transition piece from the 'carpet' to the attic floor, similar to the ones used when going from carpet to tile or vinyl. This would help you to not 'stub your toe' when going from the attic to the loft area. Just my $.02 worth :-)

Air seal the attic door for noise created by the hvac unit. But like I said before, noise reduction like that can be done later. I still feel like r-11 noise insulation under the whole attic/loft floor within the joist space will help reduce noise and stratifying the air. Since you went with a zoned system, encapsulating the bedroom ceiling /attic floor with the insulation would help even further to prevent transfer of heat between bedroom and attic. I know your 2x6 walls are amazing and the house is already one baller of a sealed unit.

Here's the crazy part, called three cities today (including a major metropolitan area. Three different independent hardware stores, two Lowe's and two home depots. No one has unfaced r13 or r19 insulation in stock. I am reading don't use faced (paper or plastic) insulation in interior walls. Unfaced is common, but no one has any in stock. Too bad, I was going to insulate the bedroom, but can't now.

To level that you now need a floor sander rent one at home depot. They normally for hardwood sanding. But they work nice. As for that cans rating. Temprature and unsed on the 2x10's directly would give you them results. You was adding extra lenght and them curves add to the product. So I would say it covered 2x the space it would have been used normally

Still would have made it further with 16 big tubes of traditional construction adhesive. I think they were a bit generous with their claim.

Matt did a test video on the foam adhesive vs caulk adhesives. You'll only regret it if ever have to be ripped up to replaced.😆 Until then you should love it. Shouldn't have any squeaking between the layers. It probably isn't worth the cost for what little you will need it, but I believe they make a extention handle for those foam guns.

If you’re still going to do a lot of caulking you should look at the power caulk guns. I know Milwaukee makes one but it’s just a cock gun that works like a drill and you can adjust the speed of how fast it comes out but you just pull the trigger. Plus it’s a tool so if your goal is to have them all, which it should be, you would need that one 😂
@TKCL3 жыл бұрын
I did look at them, but 200-250 dollars is more than I want to spend on one.
@ShaneZettelmier3 жыл бұрын
@@TKCL I would definitely want one but I would probably never spend that much either. I just wouldn’t use it enough. Now if you could find caulk that would fit into one of those battery powered grease guns that would be a dual purpose tool. 😂😂

Rebuild my deck. Buying 10 to 12 boards at a time. Different thicknesses different widths, +-1/16 thicknesses and +-3 /16 width. Pitiful stuff, I am buying premium grade and it's really a job to pick through the stack to get decent quality. Not much different in quality between standard and premium. It does not seem like much but lay it trying to keep it straight, gaps and bows everywhere.

@timothymoore2090 Жыл бұрын
The amount of adhesive you used was enough to lay 25 sheets of osb. If your using it properly it would definitely have laid 25 sheets all day. Secondly like any subfloor adhesive in a can it has to be very warm to come out good and you have to shave every cab up for more then 30 seconds constantly at a constant rate to make it work correctly. Been in the construction field for over 15 years and I can say that no none zero amount of liquid nail will out perform or stretch as far as can adhesive. Even advatech adhesive will do 23 sheets and you can even use the same can when the gun is closed even after 30 days like they say on the application. The only area that adhesive needs is every joist. One bead right down the joist on each joist and it’s solid. Doesn’t matter if you use one sheet of inch and 1 eighth or 2 sheets. Once that adhesive is completely dry it’s not shifting. It’s not bouncing it’s not moving period
