I like Pluto's style more and am willing to pay a bit more for it, I also like the mounting more on Pluto, and Cycle7 is still gonna be expensive due to high shipping costs. It feels I'm afraid to defend Pluto since a lot of people are very toxic towards it, and the only argument is the price. Dude, there are plenty of more expensive boards that don't offer a lot more that people are willing to pay for, and it hasn't been a problem before. Also if both boards are good, shouldn't it be up to the person to order which one they like. It's not like Pluto sucks, but people are still behaving like it does. Many people are saying they like how Pluto looks more and there's nothing wrong with it. I commented on Alex's Pluto video too and got emails that somebody liked my comment, but after I went to take a look, my comment had zero likes, which means some people disliked me defending Pluto after that. Sometimes I just don't get these guys. Alex also said in a stream that people went brutal with Pluto. People just want to defend what they bought and bash others to feel more superior, which I don't think is very adult behavior honestly. Let other people like what they like, nothing wrong with it. Pluto gets a bad rep from all these, but in my eyes people defending Cycle7 aggressively give Cycle7 a lot worse rep. I've talked to some people that I ordered Pluto and got telled that I did wrong and am wrong in doing so etc. How's it wrong if I like the board more and the pricepoint doesn't bother me? This whole argumenting is just illogical, since people buy what they like, not everyone buys because of how cheap it is. Just think about jewelry, watches, phones, tech in general for example, most people buy what they like, even if it doesn't look a lot different but is a lot more expensive, and they feel like what they got is nice, because they prioritized something that the more expensive had, even if for some it would be a no brainer to go with a cheaper one, but not for everyone. Anyway end of rant. Also want to clarify I'm not mad about this, I just always write long messages, in my opinion Cycle7 and Pluto are both wonderful keyboards and I like many things Cycle7 has too, I just prefer the Pluto, but don't feel negative towards either myself. So please anyone reading this, don't take my words too negatively, all I want is for people not to be angry towards each other.

There have been some good groupbuy keyboards but it's really hard to recommend those to people that think they need a keyboard in the near future but don't have the money to buy it exactly right now at this moment or they will miss it. I believe people will be nicer towards Pluto when time goes on, and maybe there's not even that much toxicity but a loud minority. I think most of people still feel both are good.

​​@@jarska92nother thing that seems to go ignored with group buy boards is the issue of parts years later. What happens if your daughter board dies and they used some proprietary unit? The group buy will have been long over and the group that made it, if they even exist, will be long past supporting it at all. I know it's just a keyboard so not much should go wrong and most things you should be able to repair short of a PCB being fried or the daughter board I mentioned. But the fact is group buy boards and this whole industry model allows them to provide no real customer support. That's a huge benefit to actual in stock keyboards from legit companies.

First off, could anyone let me know if Alex used the FR4 plate for this Cycle 7 build? So does the most expensive version of the tri-mode wireless PCB for the Cycle 7 include... Bluetooth/2.4ghz (with a USB dongle?)/and then the ability to also used wired?.....OR does *Tri-mode* in this case strictly refer to ONLY Bluetooth connection as the wireless connections, while being able to connect to 3 different Bluetooth devices? It always confuses me when there are like 8 different PCB choices, especially if there are multiple different wireless choices, I wasn't sure which wireless PCB to choose other than the most expensive one...but it still doesn't mention anything about 2.4ghz or using it in wired mode if you choose to. (Only thing I could see was the double batteries under the weights for Bluetooth which is neat, but doesn't mention much about what the 3 wireless connections are, and which PCB models are able to utilize QMK/VIA/VIAL (Unless it was to be assumed that all of the soldered, hotswap, wired, and wireless PCBs all can use VIA)

I would so get one, but was about to check out and the shipping price was 40 USD (To Toronto Canada). It's still a killer deal for an amazing board but I'm not sure how much importing costs or if it's baked into the $40 shipping cost. Oh, I too made a choice from these colors + also considered Lunar. And still I preferred to buy Rock for 3 reasons: versatility in choosing keycaps and mats (it also works for silver), coating (not many keyboards in this segment can boast of it, and considering that Arc60 from Vertex had versions with coating from Martix Lab, one of the best studios when it comes to coating, I think that TKD Coating will be very good P.S Blacksimon confirms it, xD). And finally the last point is the most subjective, I don't really like the play of light on an anodized body

I have kinda lost interest in budget boards and custom keyboards in general but this really intrigued me and i kinda want to own it. Have been using the Ikki68 Aurora with a bunch of upgrades (r2 wireless pcb, r2 alu top, brass weight...) and i just kinda stop caring about this hobby.

I'm jealous...I actually bought the first R1 Group Buy with the Grey ikki68 Aurora. As well as the Tromso Bluetooth PCB, and a battery from the Wuque Studio Discord, but then when I received the Tromso Bluetooth PCB the on/off switch located under where the spacebar goes had fallen off during shipping so finally got another sent to me... But by the time I got the replacement Tromso PCB...they were already shipping out the R2 versions of all 3 or 4 of the new thin flex PCBs AND the optional aluminum top piece upgrade. So after spending much more money than I had originally planned (since the R1 GB ikki68aurora was like $145 or something...but after spending another $100+ for the upgrade R2 aluminum top piece to put on my R1 ikki68 Aurora as well as the $65+ for the Tromso PCB (R1 Bluetooth PCB). Now since it took so long to finally get a replacement Tromso PCB for the bent/broken switch that fell off in shipping....it's damn near impossible to find the details for setting up the Tromso Bluetooth PCB since they literally discontinued all 5 different R1 GB PCBs and replaced them with the 4 new R2 thin flex cut PCBs that require specific sized stabs made specifically for the thin flex cut PCBs.... anyways I still absolutely love the layout and all the awesome items that were included with the ikki68 Aurora.....BUT I literally would have saved so much money had I not been early to buy the first GB (and instead just bought an R2 ikki68aurora that included an aluminum top piece and the updated Bluetooth PCB)...it felt like everything i bought was outdated before I even had a chance to assemble it. and the expensive ass R1 Tromso Bluetooth PCB I bought was hotswap and had backlit per key LEDs, but unfortunately no QMK/VIA support and only proprietary software for making changes to it.....then of course a week later they were selling only the new updated PCBs with the new R2 Bluetooth PCB that now have QMK/VIA support and have all the features that I originally wanted the first one to have. (Almost felt like they purposely kept advertising and selling extras of all the R1 items before immediately discontinuing ALL of the R1 stuff and making it hard to even find the instructions /software/and firmware files for all the parts I own.)

I recently bought a Cycle 7 and put my Ikki68 to rest after 2 years of constantly upgrading and using it. I still love the aesthetics and the layout of the Ikki68, but it IS outdated especially when compared to the Cycle 7. If Wuque decides to release a seperate Aluminum Bottom for the Ikki68, i might go back to it, but the sound and typing feel on the C7 just keeps hooking me in...

I get the price argument on the Pluto vs. Cycle 7; however, Divinikey has free shipping AND no tax, so the price of the keyboard is the actual price. This means that you can get the Pluto for less than the Cycle 7, depending on whether you're purchasing an extra plate.

I don't use the f row. Full stop. At all. I delegate that to a macropad I have on the side when I need any of the frow keys which is very rare. But if I were to take the board anywhere frow keys are just embedded under a layer (fn + numrow keys). So while F-12 TKLs are always classy form factor not having much use for an frow means I have stronger affinity towards the 60-70% boards

FYI, if you live in the US, this is a $200 board. just be prepared for that if you actually like the layout and style. Personally, not a fan. Just my personal opinions; I don't like this layout as I find it impractical/inferior in any use case. I rather a TKL with the F-row if I'm already going that wide in the use case of some games or for some work-related tasks. And if I want to save space, I'd rather a 65 or 75 % board. This just falls into the wide but impractical IMO. The latching mechanism is neat, as it has been on a number of boards in the past, however it seems to me that they all have a similar design where the top overhangs the bottom in a very boxy and IMO cheap look vs a more elegant seamless design. Also appears to be why the top/bottom bezels are wider because they need area to fit the latches. I feel like this is just a necessity of the mechanism at this point due to space required and tolerances. I suspect these design limitations are a big reason you won't see this mechanism just taking over. It sort of solves a problem, that wasn't really a problem, while making other problems. The wireless PCB will NOT support QMK/VIA but a custom firmware. I still don't understand how these group buy boards can't do wireless with QMK/VIA. If GMMK, Keychron, etc can do it then a custom should be able to pull it off as well. Heck, I have a CIDOO v65 v2 and v75 that support VIA and offer wireless connectivity and I bought the v65 for $100 (fully built with switches and keycaps, aluminum case, gasket mount, all the foams, wireless, via, etc). It just doesn't make sense to me. To me the design is just, plain. Sure, the weight is nice, but like so many boards it's just a weight on the bottom that you'll never see. I really would like to see more designs where the weight wraps up the back and/or front sides of the keyboard so that you get to actually see it and it contributes to the design of the keyboard while on the desk. There are boards that are doing this obviously, but it needs to be more common IMO. Otherwise, it just feels like a waste. If none of those things are important to you then it's still a decent board even after the shipping costs and the board probably costing more like $200-$225 USD before switches and keycaps. It does feel however like this board is getting so much praise based off a perceived "low price". I'd say most custom keyboards are made in China. Chinese factories offer very good quality while being cheaper compared to the rest of the world. Even very high quality boards like the Keycult No.1 series (not the No. 2 series which was made in the US and had lots of QC issues) were made in China.

@@jgould30 usually when someone says is it made in China they tend to mean that quality is not going to be same if it was made in US. People tend to associate cheap products made in China to be inferior quality to other parts of the world. I am not saying that kabes1776 meant to say that but do I understand why And nq2nz would respond with that.

Just tried to buy it but the total price came out around $200 cuz of the shipping fee of $39. $39 of shipping fee is insane in the other way. Id go for pluto just for $227.

@@Jamesified it depends on locations but in my case, Southern California, it is free from divinikeys. But the thing is options are very limited. They only have WKL version so Im still thinking. But still 40 bucks shipping for $150 keyboard is really deal breaker.

I honestly don’t understand the excessive hype for this board. Most people in this hobby have multiple boards. Most people in this hobby can afford expensive boards. Sure you are getting a lot for your buck… but who cares about that? Surely not veterans of the hobby who have been collecting keyboards for years and somehow are the ones hyping the most… A newcomer you say? Don’t forget this keyboard is still extremely expensive when compared to the industrial keyboards going for about $10 - $20 on Amazon which is what most people are used to. Or even to Keychrons or the like which are actually mechanical and offer customization at half the price of the Cycle7. In my case, I rather pay double or triple and have a beautiful board than an industrial rectangle for the most popular layout. I am sorry but this keyboard is just plain ugly and boring. It is. Not sure what this whole budget trend is about when no one in here is on a budget and the ones that actually are have an extremely lower budget than $140 to spend on a keyboard. I just feel people often get bored and need to hype the next ‘big’ thing from time to time to have that expectation thrill.

I agree for the most part. I think it's a combination of a few things. The latching mechanism seems to have everyone losing their minds for some reason. I guess 4 screws in the bottom of the case was to much work or something. I'd personally take a few screws for a way better looking keyboard. The keyboard does legitimately come with a good amount of stuff, including stabilizers and multiple mounting methods. So that's actually a legit reason. The price they are being told/ seeing vs what you get seems like a good deal. Unfortunately for most people that cost isn't really legit so when you actually get to the realistic cost you start to see there are other options that might be better. You might like the design more, or the layout, or the colors, or the availability, or the after sales support channels. Unfortunately going from $140 to $200+ opens up a lot of competition that wasn't perceived before. It is from a well known group that does a good job with QC so they can feel confident that most likely the anodization will be good and all that. Again a legit point. But yea, personally think it's just a really boring looking keyboard that people are hyping because they are mesmerized by a stupid ball latch mechanism. Because beyond that it's not a unique board and the price isn't actually special either so f you don't live in China or close by.

1. The hobby mostly consists of people who can only afford "budget" boards. Just because there has been an overflux of 300$+ boards, doesn't mean that they sell a lot/well... especially today. Most people cannot afford these boards anymore, there is a reason why vendors are making mad losses rn which lead to several companies closing down (mechs n co, prevail...) So this hobby NEEDS cheaper boards with standards of higher boards in order to stay attractive. 2. This board is perfect for newcomers who want the quality of a high-priced board while not spending as much, as this would be their first more expensive board. Most people already own a crappy 20$ board prior to their first custom board and this keyboard is FAR superior to the likes of keychron. Multiple color choices, superior sound and feel, more plate options, actual premium weight, a hard case... 3. It's fine if you want to spend more money for better design, I'm with you on that. I also rather spend more money if it means I get an outstanding design. But this board is throwing so much at you that you'd normally appreciate at a much higher price point. That's where the hype comes from because this kind of quality should be the new standard. It's not going to throw off the more expensive boards that come with an exceptional design but it's providing many people a board that can compete with expensive boards in every other area. You don't need to understand a hype if it doesn't catch you but not everyone has tons of money to throw at a board. Even as someone like me who has thousands of dollars in the hobby, you can appreciate the quality you can get for a lower price even if it isn't aesthetically pleasing. But that's where a manufacturer can save most money as all the little curves and details and different materials add up A LOT when making a keyboard.

I am all for more variation and price ranges in the hobby, I am sure this keyboard will find its audience... I am just talking about people not on a budget still buying this keyboard or going crazy about it like its some kind of holy grail.

@@shynnsup8383 Im not gonna buy this board as i have other high end boards, but im insanely impressed by it and consider recommending it to anyone who is looking to get into the hobby. If this is the quality that they offer at a sub 150 price point, just imagine if they dip their feet into higher-end price points, 400+? This is where it gets interesting to me.
