1929 Gated Haughton Traction Elevator @ Ferndale Center Building, Ferndale, MI

I stumbled upon this amazing lift on my first visit to the building, mistakenly assuming it was disused- but it turns out this lift does still run and is used as a service car. This lift has some very cool features, like a ratcheting automatic-closing interior gate; though it seems to have some pretty major issues, as the old controller obviously struggles to register calls.
If you stick around for the whole video, enjoy a bonus retake of this building's passenger lift, an old '60s Zelda that's pretty amazing in its own right. It seems to have replaced another gated Haug.

Incredible that a 95 year old elevator is still running. Shows that old elevators were truly built to last. I'm not surprised the controller is having major issues: I'm sure that replacement parts are basically impossible to find, and if I had to guess, parts were scrapped when the Zelda was installed.
