@@RJsGarages Looks like I'm an a/c guy now lol. The kit I got was $149.00 but still well worth it. The money I saved doing the job myself payed for the a/c kit. I placed Teflon tape for all connections on gauges then tested the lines themselves for leaks before trying on vehicle.. I changed out a condenser on a 2004 Nissan Xterra here in Glendale, Arizona. Got the A/c temp down to 49*f in 109*f pm temperatures. Mission success! Thanks again Are Jay

While you are pulling the vacuum you need them open since the vacuum is the middle line. But before you shut off the vacuum you need to close the red and the blue and then turn off the vacuum and let's it sit for around an hour to see if you have leaks. If the vaccuum/pressure on the gauge changes you have a leak and will need to find that before refilling. Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe every little bit helps during these times. So where does the vacuumed r134 go once its being pumped out?
@michaelbenna1089
@michaelbenna1089 Жыл бұрын
That isn’t how it works, you recover refrigerant, then pull down a vacuum, if you hook up a vacuum w the refridge, it will blow all the oil out of your vacuum
@johnclark6190
@johnclark6190 3 жыл бұрын
When checking for vacuum leak down over the hour, why don't you open both valves on the gauge set? If not, you are only checking the hoses of the gauge set, not your vehicle's AC system, right?
@RJsGarages
@RJsGarages 3 жыл бұрын
You open the valves that are on the actuall ports so the vacuum is to the gauges, if you open the valves on the gauges is will lose vacuum through the yellow hose. After you un hook from the pump and leave it setting for that hour.
@knewbee5057
@knewbee5057 Жыл бұрын
@@RJsGarages Isn’t that what the knob is for on the top part of the yellow hose? While the pump is on turn that knob to close the system then turn pump off and don’t touch the other knobs. Idk but watching how the pump doesn’t start evacuating the system until you turn the knobs on the high and low would mean that you aren’t connected to the system when turn shut those same high and low valves.

Should the high side be close?
@tysoncurrie7745
@tysoncurrie7745 2 жыл бұрын
No, when your vacuuming the system you open both valve, when you are charging the system with the car running close the high side (red valve) and open the low side (blue valve) and charge the system through the low side.

Only if your system is low from a leak, or from replacing a component of your system like the compressor or ac evaporator.

Sr I want to see how you can charge refrigerant .thank
@jram7047
@jram7047 2 жыл бұрын
OK so using the system he has this is how you do it if oil doesn't need to be added in the ac system , you need a large tank of refrigerant to do it more accurately but if you have these tools you can make money fixing other people's systems and make your money back and then some. 30 lb tank. And a scale to read how much your pulling out of it. When you've decided you have pulled enough of a vacuum and it holds , close down all your valves and disconnect the yellow hose from the vacuum. If your yellow hose doesn't have a valve on the end you connect it to your refrigerant and open the tank , then you unscrew the top part of the hose as it goes into the manifold until air is purged ( minimal release as allowed by law) you then zero your scale and open your low side valve with the engine off and if large enough the system will suck enough refrigerant into the system ( the charge Weight is typically on a sticker under the hood.) If the refrigerant stops flowing you close the valve on the manifold start the car and the ac and turn it up to max ac , then you open the low side manifold valve partially and cycle closing it and feeding it until your weight charge is in the system. At that point you turn off the refrigerant tank and you close the high side port on the vehicle itself then you open up the low side valve again and suck the pressure out of the manifold ( guages) until it equalizes with the refrigerant pressure on the low side . Close off the valves and remove the guages from the vehicle. The only options for the remaining pressure in the guages are to allow deminimus release as allowed by law or to leave the pressure inside the guages until your next use. I typically would release the refrigerant in the manifold because I don't leave pressure on my guages and lines. Leave the ac running for 15 min or so and make sure your temps are cool and everything is working appropriately. None of this instruction is explaining how to diagnose or what you would be looking at as the system runs to ensure you don't have problems what I will tell you is that there is no specific number / pressure or cold air temp to say it is working correctly. When your system is being tested you use temperature test with the high and low side lines vs pressures to find super heat and subcooling based upon if it has fixed orifice or thermal expansion valve . There are added complications on a vehicle when the condensor fan may cycle at different speeds and obviously moving is getting better air flow than sitting at a stop.

@CC-ew2jw
@CC-ew2jw 3 жыл бұрын
No, you cannot exact refrigerant with this vacuum pump. It’s used only to pull a vacuum when there is no refrigerant in the system. You need a recovery machine to extract refrigerant.
@jram7047
@jram7047 2 жыл бұрын
@@CC-ew2jw no you can do it without a recovery machine if you have an empty tank with a vacuum pulled on it ... those tanks are rated for 30 lbs plus of refrigerant so a good vacuum will easily pull that out of an automotive ac system... but I don't recommend recycling refrigerant after problems as it opens the door for making new problems . Many systems do recycle it and slightly filter it but the risk isn't worth it for me.

The compressor or the expansion valve
