But during his recovery he suffered a massive heart attack and died. A few weeks after his death, a memorial concert was held at the Graffiti club in Pittsburgh.

'Four Sail' album doesn't get enough credit as being one of the stronger entries in the Love catalog and has continued to age well ever since its 1969 release. I saw this lineup perform this song at the Eastown Theater in Detroit in 1970. George Suranovich caught my attention, because he was the most precise drummer I had ever heard, and I had heard the best of the drummers of that time. During the performance he was wearing a vintage Yellow Taxi uniform hat. George Suranovich died in 1990 at the age of 45 of a heart attack. It certainly wasn't from lack of exercise.

Yes, this is astonishing - one of those moments that make KZbin so great. For me, Lee's up there with McGuinn, Morrison and Lou Reed as the four titans of American rock. What wouldn't we give for a clip of the original Love with this sound and visual quality? There's supposed to be professional footage of them in Bill Graham's archive, shot at the Fillmore West, c.1967. Wait for that to appear on the Tube, folks...

What an amazing group. Its the orchestral-like arrangement of this ominous song built around the drumming of George Suranovich and Lee's slashing guitar work which make it especially interesting. Also the bass player Frank Fayad is playing some pretty unusual lines and sounds like no-one else. Very difficult to play like this - the musicianship is astonishing.

Oh my God... This is by far the coolest thing I've ever seen on KZbin... Thank you, Torben!!! It's great to see footage of this quality, just amazing. Fayad and Suranovich are easily one of the greatest rhythm sections ever in rock'n'roll... I wish I'd been able to get a copy of 'Four Sail' back in High School ('85-'89), 'cause all the other musicians I went to school with just worshiped Rush; it would have been so cool to be able to say "nevermind those guys, check this out! For many years Love were no more than a cult. I first heard Alone Again Or in 1982 and fell in love with Love. As many have already posted Four Sail is vastly underrated. But all of their first albums are classics. Love should have been much bigger then they were, but for various reasons Arthur did not want to leave LA to tour or play the promotional game. The influence of Love has grown in importance over the years. The fact that they are Robert Plant's favourite band or that all of the Doors were in total awe of the band says it all.
