He was bullied a lot in his childhood, always left out, and he always had the feeling to hide his true self, and that his dreams were impossible for him to follow. So that's why he's wearing that thing before his face, and why taking it off was such an amazing moment because it symbolizes he is done with hiding and wants to reveal who he really is. And his dream as a musician was to go to Eurovision so for him finally to reach his dream is such an amazing feeling. He also said it was impossible for him to let others write this song, he wanted to write it himself because it's so personal.

He wrote that himself. He's so amazing! I came here to this review specifically because it was about him and this performance. I'm also from the US, but I stumbled on his first performance on The Voice Australia and have LOVED him ever since. He also went back a year later on The Voice Australia and was also on America's Got Talent. You should really check out his other performances and see how he has grown so much (mostly his confidence). It's really a joy watching you two discovering the new Eurovison songs. 💜 I was especially looking forward to this one. Sheldon wrote this song himself together with two other producers and it's about his struggles with discrimination and exclusion due to his Asperger-diagnosis, living conditions at the time and also his sexuality in a religious family. A few years ago he was on the Voice Australia and already said back then that it was his big dream to represent his country at Eurovision. So this is really a dream come true for him and also part of the reason why he is so emotional (apart from 'Not the Same' being a very sensitive and personal song) Keep up the great reactions 👍🏼

As a European, I respect how Australia treats their invitation to the competition. *we* tend to be a TOTAL mixed bag, because it's our show, so sometimes we show up with just ridiculous performances, often treating it as a joke - and that's fine, it's part of the show; who will be the clowns this year? Sheldon has a great voice, but I have heard better songs than this. S10 with her song De Diepte is higher on the list of people who predict winners on Eurovison. S10 hef song is about mental health and depression, so she has a good message as well.

@@2012inca you see, I'm from Serbia and I don't know nothing about message of S10 song. And probably 200 millions of people who will watch Eurovision also will not know. Also people from my country are delusional and thing that somebody will translate Konstrakta's song. Lyrics are totally irellevant if it's not in English, only 1% of biggest fans will search for lyrics.

People search for the meaning of songs you see many Eurovision fans in reaction video's look up the translated lyrics, in most reaction video's people look up the lyrics so it is important to them. Thats a lot more than 1% Sheldon is like you say around 10th place on bets which I understand. He is a great singer with many fans from his Voice and Got Talent, but the song is not that great. I think Ukraine will win because everyone wants them to win.
