Tammy actually probably qualifies for at least partial skin removal. She needs to get a consult from a plastic surgeon. Her skin is in the way of her being able to move around, stay clean, exercise, etc. Even if it is a temporary stop gap on the way to her final body, she needs some skin removed.

She previously had weight loss surgery and regained the weight so I'm not surprised she hasn't made much progress with this second surgery. She clearly has the ability to keep consuming high calories despite stomach size restriction. She has to be ready to change her eating habits and relationship with food if she's ever to reach a healthy weight.

I have the same problem. I had a gastric bypass in 2011 and was told that I would have to wait 2 years before I went for skin removal. It’s now 2024 and I have lots of skin that needs removing but the NHS won’t help and I can’t afford it at around £8000. So I have to keep returning to GP for more creams to help with the massive skin infections, weeping sores and constant pain. It’s all crazy and unfair.

It was great enough Tammy please don't cry!!! He commented you, because you did do awesome. But he explained why and told you the RISK!!! Your health is more important than your feelings... At 300 pounds that is a risk of having skin removal.. You're still losing weight which is awesome and healthy for you, so get down to the 100 pounds less which will put you at 200 pounds... You'll still be at a risk but nowhere near like you are at a risk now... Please Tammy enjoy every moment of your success.... I'm proud of you Tammy...❤🎉😊🎉 I am proud of you all.

Tammy took the bull by the horns once she made up her mind to lose the weight; losing nearly 500 pounds is mind boggling. And the surgery is no guarantee of success, I’ve seen enough episodes My 600 pound life and people in real life to know it’s not. Tammy is an amazing person and to me an inspiration to anyone who has a lot of weight to lose.

As frustrating as it is for Tammy, the doc is right and if she plans to go below 200, it does make more sense to lose more. That said, breaking the removal into parts would also make a lot of sense and doing something that won't shrink much more like her arms would give her a chance to reinforce the progress she's made and be able to quasi-function after the second more major procedure.

Honestly, I understand her Disappointment, but I think the Fact that the Doctor wants her to lose even more Weight is a big Compliment. It suggests two Things: That he believes her capable to and also likely to lose even more. It's a one step back, three steps foward Situation imo. 200 Pounds... she'd almost have lost 3/4 of her Weight.

Come on tammy it's about losing more weight so you don't have extra skin what's the point removing the skin to then loose more weight and then have excess skin again then it won't get removed because you hot the surgery

Did gastric bypass at 14 - as a test subject, I had a skin reduction as well..but I was rejected the first time trying for the skin removal...about 1.5 yrs it took me to bounce up and down for the skin to be the ideal length from my hip bones....I was 375 at 14, by the time I was 20 i was 170 lb. ( age of skin removal)then after skin removal I lost another 10 lb but indeed it takes time.
