"Pushing" a child with anxiety is a very wrong way to describe it. Gentle encouragement is appropriate. You see how Parker freezes and looks uncomfortable when her parents excitedly shout for her to climb to the top of the rope? Parked is easily over stimulated. This is very likely due to her home environment with it's constant choas. My heart breaks for her.
@berthannesautner27984 жыл бұрын
Every time Parker sticks her bottom lip out, the parents yell "PARRRRRKER"!!! and swoop her up. Then they discuss ( in front of her) that she has anxiety and depression "Just like Adam". It WORKS for her. One little show of displeasure and she's up in Daddy's arms and the 2 of them are paying attention to only her. I know people will hate me for saying this, but they are training her to be that way.
@gamespc78804 жыл бұрын
@@berthannesautner2798 o so what you mean is that you never wanted to be held by your parents or have them so show how much they love or that you didn't come to them for comfort when you needed it.
@gamespc78804 жыл бұрын
@@berthannesautner2798 wow you must have been not paying attention at all you try giving that many kids the same attention at the same time. On one of the plane ride to where ever they're going for vacation who's sitting next to neither of her parents instead it's Riley and they're working on an arts and crafts project together. She might prefer being by her parents but she doesn't always have to be with her parents to feel safe as long as she's with her family.
@gamespc78804 жыл бұрын
It's the exact opposite not pushing them to overcome it makes it more likely that they'll never want to be away from their or that they can do things all by themselves and her parents were encouraging her to climb the rope. Anyways good/great parents know just how much their kid needs to be pushed to get through it.
@gamespc78804 жыл бұрын
@Carralié Alice Whitewood bull crap I if was never pushed out of my comfort zone, I would have no friends. O so kids can't turn to their parents when feel uncomfortable and parents can't try to comfort their kid because others would see it as babying the kid, she's little. Kids usually start to want their parents to take a back seat when they're teenagers.

Parker’s cup was upside down, so Riley was fixing it and fell while trying to give it back right side up. You should look at the whole picture before calling a toddler a bully, she’s smart and was trying to help.

@@kaylee1769 No, Riley was aggravating them to get a response. I wouldn't call her a bully, just a kid who needs to learn to respect other people's boundaries. @@astrinymris9953 I disagree. As somebody who works in childcare, I think she generally was trying to help but of course didn't use her words in order to do so. Yes, she was aggravating her sisters but I don't think she was doing it on purpose. I often see this behavior in children I've worked with and when I spoke to them about it, they just wanted to help but need to use 'their words' as I tell them. All the time young children have trouble speaking what they want, what they need, or what they want others to do and it often ends up with them upset, or upsetting other children by not communication.

One of my kids was similar and what I found out was that my over zealous desire for him to overcome his anxiety was fueling much of his under confidence. I learned it was better when I said less, asked him fewer questions, and stayed quiet. Not judging but as a professional and monitoring her social and behavioral interactions I think this is more than anxiety. I would recommend a child psychologist. This could be easily remedied. God Bless.

Ann Marie Stefanuk i was the same way as a child. I was super shy and would cry when my mom would drop me off to dance class every time, so she unenrolled me . I was also very reserved , just like Parker . I grew out of it and think she will too. I think she’s fine

Morgan H I was pretty much the same way, only I didn’t grow out of it and live with crippling social anxiety now. I think it’s probably better that they at least try to get her help just in case.

Don't think it's helpful to discuss her issues in front of her...she's perceiving everyone's concern and concluding there's something wrong with her.
@kaylee17695 жыл бұрын
She’s old enough to understand it and know it’s about her, so she has the right to know. I hated when my parents would exclude me from information that’s about me.
@michellegordon42115 жыл бұрын
@@kaylee1769 not at that age. children don't internalize it logically or rationally - that's why kids tend to blame themselves when mommy and daddy get a divorce because at that age, everything is about them; they aren't sophisticated enough to grasp the big picture.

As one of six siblings, Parker will undoubtedly need that reassurance that she is valued and special, just as much as any of her sisters are. Being an introvert in a family of very strong personalities is going to be tough, but she'll find her niche. It's as the occupational therapist said, Parker needs reassurance, not just that she's safe but that she can take risks. Parker would probably benefit from a 'Now, Next, Then' structure to her daily routines, which will prepare her for what's expected as well as any changes.

Parker kinda reminds me of myself. I genuinely feel like its not all just anxiety but more so stubborness and shyness. If she doesn't wanna do something (like talk to some strange person) she's not gunna do it and there's nothing you can do to change her mind about it. And if you force her then she's gunna flip out. I can also understand not wanting to be the center of attention. I think the older parker gets she'll understand some stuff you do *have* to do, like communicate, or read aloud in class. But just know parker is stubborn so I'm sure if you piss her off its over for you bud 😂😂😂😂

I just realized I used to be like Parker and my parents never got me help. I was always just pulled away when anything made me cry or anxious. I was scared of everything. I don’t know how it has affected me as a 17 year old besides I have extreme anxiety.
@amberkay39832 жыл бұрын
I like that they did this with her. I was really shy as a kid and I used to shut down A LOT. My mom and dad have both told me within the last year that they wish they had brought me to someone to see if it had something to do with anxiety (back then it wasn’t talked about as much as it is now which is a huge reason they never did) and after seeing a doctor over the last few months she’s help me realized that most of what I went through as a kid were most likely caused by anxiety which I’m finally getting help with getting under control today at 23 years old

I love this occupational therapist because she's not like other doctors who just want to put a child on medication or want to say a Child is This or child is that she said Parker you want to get on the ball and play not forcing her but saying hey what do you think about getting on here and then she looked at her dad and she was like well if Dad were to get down there with you when you do it and so she opened up when her parents are involved and I like how the therapist is not pushing she wants Parker to come to her on her own and I think that's important when you're taking your child to see someone because you just don't understand what's going on and you want to help your child as a parent.
@gamespc78804 жыл бұрын
Damn right that's just what good parents do they try to help their kid or kids succeed in life by find out things like Hazle with her eye problem, Parker and her anxiety, and Riley with being smart. Hell if I didn't have parents that cared for I wouldn't be as healthy as I am today with all my health problems or worse not a live.

I am so glad they've noticed and realized their daughter has anxiety from such an early age. I've been struggling my whole life because my caretakers and teachers never noticed changes in my behavior or linked them to anxiety, so as an adult I deal with mental health issues that could've been taken care sooner and I'd be able to cope with it. I wish more parents can do the same as the Busby's are doing for Parker! It's awesome they are being so open about it, hopefully this message will reach caretakers that without it would overlook a child's symptoms. :)
@SickandTired955 жыл бұрын
Same. I’m just now realizing that I’ve struggled with pretty severe anxiety my entire life. As an adult it’s only gotten worse. These kids are so much better off. Especially since we live in a slightly more mental health aware society.
@Julia-jc6xu5 жыл бұрын
Totally get ya, anxiety grows until is bigger than you and it's SO underrated, there are so many layers to why it's not diagnosed (parents can't accept their child has issues, failed educational system etc). I hope you can learn to cope and manage your anxiety

It's alright, dear. You'll be able to cope with time. This is good that there was intervention made when she was still little. Unfortunately, I didn't get that opportunity. I'm still excessively shy and anxious in front of strangers.

They are really great parents! The daughter of my sister in law barely spoke, got bullied and gained a lot weight of weight because of comfort eating, she is just 7...my sister in law reacted with telling her "Say to the kids who bully you that they are ugly". Now she is an overweight kid who barely speaks and reacts aggressive, but her mum doesn't care. Parker can be really happy to have parents who seek help and try to understand her!
