Did a little math. The average male 20 and older is 200-ish pounds. Lets use pork for this example as its the closest similarity. In 200 pounds of pork whole, loin, or broiled there is around 219,859 calories. Considering he weighs 900 pounds that means he has 989,364 calories. I got stuck here, as at his weight he could last 8-12 weeks before fatal starvation, but the longest recorded time for not eating is 385 days. Balancing somewhere between there and a recommended caloric intake, its not likely he could survive for months to a year before needing to eat again.

I eat only 2 meals a day, sometimes have a snack in the morning so I don't starve myself. I also go on my walks 3-5 days a week. (Unless it's really cold or bad weather.) I also limit bread and pasta (I don't usually eat much of them.) I drink water and carbonated water, a small soda once in a while (no diet crap.) Also went from a size 11 to a size 10 shoe. Update 7/8/24: It's been a while since I last checked in. But I am happy to say that I have officially lost 50 lbs. I am still doing my walks, drinking plenty of water, and not eating a lot of crap. I have had some days where I have ended up eating a chocolate bar (a small one, but still.) Regardless I still keep up with my exercises and only eat two meals a day with a small snack in the morning if I'm hungry. I cannot believe how far I have gotten within less than a year from 392 to 341. Even though I still have a lot of work to do, I do appreciate all the support that I got from this comment. My aunt was very overweight. The rest of the family had given up as they believed that she was taking over their lives. I dropped out of college for 2 years to help. Breakfast; one slice of bread, hot beverage of her choice, half of a fruit, greens and tomatoes, one boiled egg and lots of water. First morning she threw it on the floor, it stayed there until she could clean it up. Dinner; a small salad, stew chicken, vegetables, lots of water. Nightcap. A cup of coffee. I got a huge tub by her bed, and she had to wash herself as best as she could. We fashioned a pulley over her bed, so she could pull herself onto the '''potty chair'' It has a hole in the middle, she '''walked''' herself to the toilet, then positioned the chair over the toilet. She had to wipe her own behind as well. I wanted her to know, that she had to be on her way to independence. She wanted a dog, I told her that until she could walk a dog, she had to be satisfied with the cat. I would not be taking on that added duty; besides I was doing a couple courses on-line to keep up. She got the message real fast, that this was her last chance. She lost 320 pounds during and is still losing.

@anyaw340 Жыл бұрын
I don't like Dr. Phil, but that's correct. The parent is actually more reliant on the child. The parent keeps the child at home and dependent on the parent by not teaching them life skills - just so that they have companionship. It's horrible. Eventually, the parent dies and leaves their child alone and in a world that their child has no clue how to navigate. Since they've been in the house most of their lives, they have no friends or support system. All they had was their mom. This episode makes me so sad. I can't even watch it again.

I don't fully agree with that because we have a choice to pursue knowledge ourselves. Parents sometimes fail because they also lack knowledge regarding parenting because no one is born a parent. But it doesnt have to end there we can also learn how to develop independence without their help through reading several books per month, discipline and commitment. We live in a world with easy access to information. Resources are readily available. It's easier to pass blame on someone instead of taking responsibility and accountability for it. Sean was the driver of his own life. He made choices that led him to his death. If he sought after a way out perhaps he could have found an escape. But for many years he was comfortable. I don't know the entire situation or know his temperament towards his mother. I'm not sure if he threw tantrums to get what he wanted from her.

It’s not like hero!n or something where they or need methadon and it sucks beyond belief and you have sleepless nights etc. The point is do 9 out of 10 meals the Dr Now way and sneak in cheat meals, just not like these people do. This guy Sean and his ding dong mom probably didn’t even attempt to follow diet. There is 2 common factors in each one. An enabler and the actual persons selfishness/ constant over eating and snacking even when told their life is on the line … this dude in particular is horrifically maladapted. The mom is one of the worst enablers I’ve seen on the show. When the cameras aren’t there she’s like “The Doctor Doesn’t know what he’s talking about 🥴” and then in front of him she’s like “we’re trying 😥”.
@citomakaveezly5 ай бұрын

@OraPyralis3 ай бұрын
@@citomakaveezlyexcept it is like hero!ne. When you have a food addiction, eating produces the same chemical reaction in your brain as drugs and alcohol, where doing it makes you feel great and after you feel awful so you keep chasing that feeling cuz you don’t want to feel awful, even though it’s temporary and is harming you. No, you won’t get the DTs from not eating but you can have other complications. It’s no different than any other addiction. Addicts of drug, alcohol, smoking, gambling all have the exact same excuses and warped rationale to convince others and themselves that what they are doing is fine, even when all evidence proves it very much is not. It takes more than a diet, it takes counselling, understanding where the issue started, what the triggers are and creating healthy alternatives to deal with the triggers, emotions and anxieties. That is how you are successful at recovering. It is not purely physical. The same goes for any eating disorder. I agree his mom is a terrible enabler and she needs the same counselling and education so she can be a better caregiver and advocate for her son. Addiction encompasses a lot of points including environment. It’s harder to stop if the people around you are pushing you to do the harmful behaviour or are giving in to you all the time, even just being around people who are overly critical and cruel about it can make it worse. No one wants to end up like he is, not even him. But I understand the pure hopelessness of everything seeming so overwhelming and feelings of what is the point and just wanting to shut down and shut out the world. It takes strength, compassion, patience and kindness from everyone involved. It is not an easy fix. You don’t get that way over night, you won’t fix it over night. Personally I don’t feel he should have been sent home the first time. It was clear he was not going to get the support and routine he needed at home with his mom at that point. He needed to in a place that monitored his intake and provided counselling and physical therapy to help him move with people who are not emotionally invested and are medically objective. No everyone can do it on their own. I would say in fact most people can’t do it on their own.

What drives me absolutely crazy is the obvious lying. It's so obvious that they are lying on this show. I mean, they don't even look like they believe the bull shit coming out of their mouth when they're saying it. Dr. Now is an angel. He is the epitome of patience and no nonsense in equal doses. I certainly couldn't do his job. The only reason he can do it so well is his genuine compassion. You would have to have above average compassion for people, or you would give up on people who are so infuriating and dishonest. He has saved so many people that he probably can't even count them all at this point. ❤

I was 200 pounds when I was only 13-14 in 8th grade, and it was embarrassing to exist and go to school. When I got to high school, I was 195 and stayed like that for the entire year. I'm 5'0, so imagine almost 200 pounds on a short girl. This summer, I was so sick of being fat but didn't do anything about it until this July when I threw up from overeating. That's when I knew I had to change something or I was going to end up on this show. I didn't want to live like that, so I started eating healthier and exercising. In under 3 weeks, I lost 15 pounds and now weigh 180. I'm now going into my sophomore year and going to try to get back into sports and get to my goal of 170. Not to mention, my family was a big help in all of this. It sickens me that someone would let their child eat that much. (And I hope you guys know that it was my choice to eat the way I used to eat, and that's why I gained the weight. My parents always told me not to eat that much, but I didn't listen and I paid the consequences for it. Remember, the first step to losing weight is to take accountability. Don't blame anyone else for why you gained weight.) Update: I'm now 16 and have been maintaining a weight of 175. I got a gym membership last month, and life has been good
