You haven’t been “managing” anything, he’s been treating her like a stray dog that he’s annoyed with for coming around for scrapes but doesn’t want to the dog to be homed to actually be accepted. However, he told her multiple times through his actions he didn’t want her and Meri wasn’t listening.
