@@merrymayhem3447 I'm an endocrinologist and I'm surprised it took so long for you be diagnosed. Even if you don't do a lot of labs, if you give desmopressin to someone with polyuria (excessive urination) and the urine volume drops significantly, you're pretty sure it's central DI with the posterior pituitary failing to produce enough arginine vasopression (ADH).

God delivered me from depression and scuicide praise God in Jesus Almighty Name Amen All have done evil “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) The penalty for sin is hell (Revelation 21:8). Because of Gods love for us Jesus Christ came down from heaven to take the punishment for our sin on the cross in which he was spat on, beaten, mocked and laughed at. Christ died for the sins of the world and The third day God raised him from the dead (Praise God). This was done so that those who believe on Christ will not perish (hell) but have life everlasting (heaven); be justified by Gods grace through redemption in Christ (John 3:16) (Romans 3:24). The blood Jesus shed on the cross washes away our sin if we Believe in The Son of God and his finished work (ordained by God) on the cross. When this happens the believer receives the righteousness of Christ in place of their own unrighteousness (all sins are forgiven) and this makes them saved (going heaven) and they are born again as a Christian. (Romans 3:25-26

I have had this disease for 11 years. I went 3 years untreated, it is truly horrible. Having to plan your entire life around bathroom breaks every 30 minutes to an hour and constantly having to have a drink with you. I felt like a burden to other people. I was waking up 12-15 times during the night to use the bathroom. Once doctors finally figured out what was wrong (Diabetes Insipidus) I was put on a medication called Desmopressin, and it completely changed my life. I’ve been on it for the last 8 years and I rarely have to use the bathroom at night anymore. And I can now go hours without using a bathroom and I went from drinking 10 gallons of water a day to around a half gallon or so. I know exactly what this man has been going through

This drug only works for people with central diabetes insipidus (body does not produce or produces very less ADH). It will not work for the patient in the video as his ADH is being produced normally but the ADH receptors in his body don't respond to ADH. So it does not matter how much you give it to him

My wife has this, and she takes a prescription called DDAVP and it helps a lot, although she was never as severe as this guy. No doctors believed her growing up and we only found out after our son was born. We needed to have an emergency c-section and while she had a catheter the nurses noticed how much water she was drinking and how often she peed, so they have a specialist come in. We were told it was very rare, and then last year my brother in law also got diagnosed, so 2 in the same family. She still needs a lot of water and goes to the bathroom more than the average person but it's not affecting day to day life anymore.

What this guy has is actually a different condition than your wife. If your wife is taking DDVAP, that means she likely has central or neurogenic diabetes insipidus. Her body doesnt produce ADH. She can take synthetic ADH (such as DDVAP) and she is able to be closer to baseline (some are pretty much able to be normal). The guy in the video has nephrogenic or renal diabetes insipidus, which is WAY worse. His kidneys dont respond to ADH. He cant take a synthetic hormone to manage it. He is likely taking thiazide diuretics which can partially manage the disease, but it will not be nearly as reliable as things like DDVAP for central diabetes insipidus. Not to say that your wife has it easy, but this guy's disorder is just on a different level.

As soon as I saw the title I knew this was about diabetes Insipidus. I suffered brain damage and had a temporary case of diabetes insipidus, which was not that bad; i had to drink at least 2 gallons of water a day to stay hydrated. As my brain damage got better, the disorder went away on its own. he has a severe, congenital case of it and i can only have respect for how he maintains a positive attitude.

its really interesting to see someone else with this disorder, I got diagnosed with mine when I was 16, and its thought I had developed it around 12 due to a brain tumor. This guy isn't lying when he talks about how intense the thirst gets. I should also probably clarify, I have the somewhat easier to handle version of his condition, my kidneys themselves work fine, my brain is the issue, it doesnt produce the needed chemical , so i can take it in pill form to alleviate the affects.

I used to get up anywhere from just once, to up to 3 times a night... Now, I make it a point to just sip a bit before bed. But I DO pee water out right away and my lips and skin and everything are still so DRY. I drink every few minutes and pee just about every hour or two. I appreciate this, to have one other option for my GP to look into.

Maybe get him a catheter so he doesn't need to get out of bed? You can just pee and go back to sleep.

Not everyone wants people to know that they’re sick. It’s modern times now and I have had every single EMT automatically check my phone medical alert and treat my condition accordingly. It’s a great idea but you must understand the stigma that may prevent people from wearing the bracelet.

I don't have this condition, but from a combination of being on medications that caused dry mouth and an obsessive compulsion to stay hydrated, any time my unrine showed any sort of discoloration it would me to drink around 8-10 liters of water a day. It was absolutely EXHAUSTING, and I've gradually been able to bring it down to a much more tolerable place.
