The part where the dad said that he saw his parents reminds me very strongly of my sister and brother-in-law. Long story short my grandmother died a couple years ago. about 4 months later my sister finds out that she's pregnant. It was basically a long honeymoon week in New Orleans in 1994 and my mom finds out she’s pregnant with me after returning home, thinking it’s the flu, stomach virus or food poisoning. The oldest woman to ever give birth was 66, and she did it with IVF. My mother knew she was pregnant but she had already miscarried just a year or two before and after that the doctors told her she could died and/or the baby could die if she had another. Yet despite the odds being against it I was born mostly healthy and my mother made it through. Miracles can and do happen.

My mom only had one ovary and a long history of various uterus problems. When she went off birth control to get pregnant the second time the doctor told her to come back in a couple months and he’d give her fertility drugs, he was certain she wouldn’t get pregnant naturally. About a handful of weeks later she’s in for her 8 week ultrasound with me. She informed me I was a one and done deal, which was way to much information even as an adult.

My grandmother was born when her mother was 45, also my friend was born, when her mother was 45, both conceived naturally. Women used to have babies in late 4Os, some in early 5Os in history as well. It was just a dark era, when it was forbidden to talk about it, like it was not happening or it was bad to have sex after 40. :D Just look in your family tree and there will be babies born to mothers after 40. :-)

My mother saw an apparition of my paternal grandfather when I was about four, and my brother was two. My brother had wandered away, and my mother was freaking out. My grandfather had died several months before, and, obviously, because she was freaking out, she wasn't a hundred percent sure if he was really there. She asked if I knew who it was, and I immediately shouted that it was him, so we know he was there. He smiled at her, and then my brother was brought back by this guy who had found him.
